With the money George will likely be tossing around if he axes Torre, it's a possibility. The Reds may make a run at Larussa too - their owner/CEO was once a minority share holder in St. Louis. Their GM said Mackanin (interim manager) is "definitely a candidate" for manager next year - translation: his arse is gone.
I just came to think of something. LaRussa is pretty thin skinned. I mean he had issues with the St. Louis press.....and they only have ONE NEWSPAPER!! But, LaRussa did say that he would not go anywhere without the GM he had in St. Louis....and I must admit, MOST of the blame SHOULD go to that little Napolean twirp the Yankees have for GM....Cashem/n or whatever his name is. When it comes to scouting pitchers...he is God-awful!:up
