It's now 3pm and Dish is still not here for the 8-12 Install

Yo-yo installer eh... failed to set it up for 1080i??? Shocked he didn't hook it up with composite cables or an RF modulator...lol

He was here till almost 9pm... once the signal came in I sent him on his way... I figured he was tired and I would explore and try to figure things out.

so far so good... now I need to find all the hidden jewels with this box

Connect it to the internet and set it up so you can set recordings from your dishnetwork online account and search for upcoming movies/shows.

Also set a lock on your system and hide the locked channels and lock the duplicate or other channels you don't want to show up. It makes using the guide and searches a lot better.

Why do you have 2 separate dishes mounted rather than 1 or 1 and a wing?

I have a 12*12 patio where I'm restricted. They'put one of the dishes in the middle of the wall to hit the EA.
They had to come around the corner and put up a wing dish to hit the 129 sahitellite. They couldnt hit both sats from one single point.

Unfortunately they didnt install my OTA. Those antenna's work as a pass through right? I have (I think) a terk 44?
It came with all these pass through cables so I imagine I connect splice the antenna in and out on the satellite antenna?
hopefully I'll find a pictorial guide on here.

One time I took the day off when I had a scheduled install, and they never showed. I called Dish to complain, and they told me my appointment had been rescheduled - without bothering to tell me about it.
Happened to me twice in a row when they swapped out my 942 for a 722.
The second time I hollered and complained enough that I got the HD pack free for a year.
Then on the 3rd time when the tech showed up and tried to activate the new 722, he found out the computer had canceled that appt. Luckily he hadn't looked at it prior to coming that day.

Your Terk will connect to a separate coax connector for ota next to the uhf remote connector.;)

I use a terk 44 on my dish 1000.2 and before I used it on my dish 1000.4 sat dish. It is easy to integrate your antenna with your satellite. Just remember to put the diplexor before the dish pro separator : TV- ota SAT to dishpro separator.

Why do you need to hit 61.5 on EA and then 129 on WA? They have the same programming. Are your locals on 129 and are they in HD?

I guess I am confused, if you can hit 129, can't they also hit 110 and 119?

Locals are only 129 only... not EA. There's only one LNB on the 129 dish and it's pointing directly to the 129. 110 and 119 were both 100% obstructed according to the prior 2 techs

Sorry for all the questions...

on my 100.4 I have I believe 4 lines running through the tube of the antenna and into the LNB jobby....

There are no diplexors by the satellite Antenna. I do however have 2 sets of Diplexors by my 722. A single line comes out of the wall... goes in to a diplexor, one wire I think goes into TV 2, then the other line hits another diplexxor and is broken into the 2 satellite ins on the receiver for a total of 3 lines into the box off of 1 feed.

Do I splice the OTA antenna into the main line coming out of the Satellite Antenna and add another diplexxor to my receiver so I have 4 lines running in? (kinda sounds like an awful lot of splitting of signals to me) but then again, if the picture gets any better I'll be able to see inside people's nose pores.

I hope you live close to the towers with the Terd-44. Replaced quite a few of those where people were missing channels.

so is that code for return it?

I honestly don't need it with the 2 satellites they installed (originally it was going to be the only way I could get the locals).... I'm all about gadgets and toys so I figured what the heck. plus Radio Hack sold it to me for 29.99 because I said that's how much Dish had it for... little did I know the 29.99 piece was the OTA.

I'm sure I could use that 29.99 for something else.

I' m not sure how you are doing your line but I can tell you how mine is done. On my dish 1000.2 sat and the 1000.4 I had before, I have the terk 44 clip on antenna on my sat dish. The coaxes that were run so I could have 3 installs are now run to the the OUT ports of 1,2 & 3 of the terk 44 . I have 3 shorter coaxes run from the lnb to the the IN port of 1, 2& 3 of the terk 44 . IN the house I have a diplexor on the single coax led into each room where I have my receivers. From the diplexor sat side I have it run to a dishpro separator that splits it into two lines for my sat tuners. From the tv side I have a coax run to a splitter and lines to my tv, sat ota in port, a/v receiver etc. From my coax out on my 722k I have the cable run to the back of the house where I have a splitter and it is split into 3 different rooms. I don't have any other splitters run to cable or internet using my coax. I just have ota and sat run .

Yep.... you might as well try it though. You might be close enough to use a garbage antenna that it doesn't matter at all. I love having OTA, some of my locals are not carried by Dish and the subchannels on some of them are not, and it sure is nice to record 3 things at one time.

yes terk is junk a coathanger will bring in more channels then terk
return it as fast as you can

If you live within 25 miles from the broadcast towers the terk 44 works fine. I have had mine for 6 years with no problems and my parents are set up on one as well. I get 100% now on all networks except one out of Lousiana . My towers are not all in the same direction and the terk works fine as it is omni directional.

Call them back

If I were in your shoes I'd call E* and tell them that you want the 722K as soon as they can get you one out there. The 2 OTA's are worth it that way can have 2 OTA's record while you can record 2 sat channels. I have one and there is no way I would go back to a single OTA tuner. If you don't have sat HD locals then that is the only way you will get your HD nets.

just to make sure I understand this properly... 1 wire can run the 3 EA signals, the 1 129 signal, AND the 1 OTA signal.

It's just a matter of splitting that line 3 times into the 2 sat ins and the 1 OTA in.

After that I do a rescan of my signals.

I saw your avatar and thought I posted. something that made nosense then I realized I swapped for my Lions one:confused:

I agree, here in Houston I can look out my front window and see the antenna farm in the distance from the second floor. Sure makes it nice to record 3 things.
