It's Not Just Dish

"Even DirecTV is not immune from these fights, while not as public with its fights it appears that DirecTV will be pulling the plug on Hampton Roads, VA channel WSKY television on January 1st. WSKY has posted an appeal to their viewers to contact DirecTV to keep WSKY on DirecTV." (as posted on The Satellite Dish by Scott)

So are you saying we now know 110% that the DirecTV & WSKY issues are purely contractual? That would seem somewhat odd as the affiliate claims on their website to be offering everything up to DirecTV 100% free of charge.

It just seems sometimes that Dish puts out (or leaks) more info than it's competitors. And then that info is used against them. Not just Locals disputes, either.

Time Warner Cable in Cincinnati is having issues with WKRC TV (CBS) 12 (And CW 12.2)

An internal memo was issued saying that the contract expires at the end of the year. I cannot disclose details, but it's deja vu all over again!

See ya

It happens to everyone, DISH, DirecTV, and all cable companies.
Echostar likes to air the dirty laundry in public.
Doesn't anyone remember the 1990s when every local station held their signals hostage to get favors for retransmission? Remember the local channel whose owner wanted his kids college tuition paid for by the cable company?

Its not JUST dish - its Just USUALLY Dish.

;)

That would definitely be the appropriate way of putting it. We not only hear about Dish Network issues more, but we do not see channels get taken down on DirecTv nearly as much as we do on Dish Network, so that HAS to tell you something.

Yes. It tells us Dish let's their disputes hit the news more.

There will be some changes to some local channels tomorrow due to stations declining Must Carry or opting in for Must Carry.

This means a handful of stations will be removed on January 1, 2009. It also means a handful of stations have elected Must Carry and will be added to various markets.

In almost all cases, these are independent stations with the exception of one PBS channel in Charleston, WV.
