Hi

I have followed the boards but never posted.

I have had *C in Dallas for about a year now. I have never really got it set up properly. I originally went through a broker, but now went direct with a friends address.

My issue is at that I am able to receive both Anik F1R AND Anik F2, but only the vertical transponders. ie I get 280 and the HD channels and I get 306-309, but I am not able to receive any of the channels on the horizontal transponders

107.3 Anik F1R Horizontal Transponders 17 through 32
210 238 239 300 301 302 310 311 312 313 314 319 320 322 328 332 333 334
337 339 340 341 342 343 344 346 348 349 353 356 361 386 389 391 395
400 401 403
456 464 505 506 508 509 511 512 513 514 515 516 521 523 527 528 534 535 540 541
544 545 548 550 551 552 553 554 561 562 563 564 565 566 569 570 571 572 574 575
580 581 583 585 586 593 601 602 603 604 605 611 612 613 614 615 621 622 623 624
631 632 633 684 686 730 771
825 827 849 850 851 852 853 854 855 856 879 880 881
Does this make any sense? I am not very technical. The information I have gathered has been through the various sites. I had a technetium come out and I was going to install larger dishes, but I think this is a different issue.

I have tried the resets, etc, but no change.

What is also curious is that my old system from the broker that was shut off shows satellite name A4 for channel 300, 301, etc, while my new system shows satellite name A5.

Currently - when I go into options for channel 280, I get satellite A5 with a signal level of 89. On channel 301, I get satellite name A5 signal level 16.

I have 2 receivers - a DSR 505 and a DSR 530 which both are the same. What puzzles me is that my old receivers did not get HD, but they got the other channels.

Any suggestions on what to check would be appreciated.

Thanks Kevin in Dallas

my guesses (in order of likelihood):
1. your receivers aren't mapped correctly.
2. You have faulty switches
3. You have splitters between your LNBs and receivers

I'm sure Iceberg, Mike Kohl, and others will confirm or refute these

Most likely #1 as on a stacked system it always displays vertical on all channels as the rx sends 18v and no 13v. Give Shaw Direct a call, I'm pretty sure they can fix it by changing yourv-code on your receivers. Explain to them what type of dish and LNB(s) you have and they will download the correct maps to your receiver.

Thanks

Thanks

I will try calling SC

I changed the switch, so I am guessing you are right. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks Kevin

What is the dish/LNB setup?

It sounds like the old system was a stacked system and the new system is unstacked

Call Shaw Direct and tell them to remap everything for UNSTACKED system

Thanks

Thanks everyone

Yes, it was an issue with Starchoice and the mapping. It took two calls. The first guy wanted to send someone to change the LNB. The 2nd support guy understood and fixed it right away.

btw, I got a canadian phone number with callcentric (under $10) and it allows call forwarding. This allowed me to call tech support and leave a canadian number for them to call back. This forwarded to my us number.

Also, I am using the 75e eliptical dish in Dallas and get very decent reception including the HD channels.

Thanks Kevin
