I posted this in the cablevision forum, dont know if its something with my particular box the sa8300 and this set or what.

I purchased a sony kds-50a2000, about 2weeks ago. Have and it set up with component wires since i got it. Friday nite I was at BJ's picked up a hdmi wire it was only $22 so I figured I would give it a try. For some reason now sometimes when I change the channel from a HD channel to a SD channel all I get is colored snow. The only way to reset it is to turn the tv or the cable box off. If I switch to the componet input it show the picture normal. Is it something with the box or something with the tv??

If anyone else has this tv please let me know if you experience the same thing when connected to hdmi. It only happens sometimes, and only with hdmi never with component connection.

I do not have your TV or cable box but I can tell you the problem is with the handshake going on between the box and the TV. They just aren't playing well together. This handshake is not needed over component, hence it always shows a picture. When this type of problem occurs your best bet is to just stick with component. I've had to resort to this with both my Dish 622 box and my previous Moxi box from Charter. Since I had problems with both my guess is the problem is with my TV. But I can't tell the difference between HDMI/DVI and component so it doesn't really matter.

set your cable box to 1 standard resolution (vs native pass through) and you will be all set
