Is the Dishnetwork controlled All HD Favorites guide getting to big to scroll through with all the new additions? If so then do like I did a little while ago and go to Menu > 8 (preferences) > 3 (Favorites) and you can set up a new HD list or modify a current one...

Yep, I did that a few weeks ago when the Discovery networks came on in HD. You can also lock out the HD RSNs that you don't need using the Locks menu.

I locked out all the Voom channels. I have already seen the repeat loop :D

Is there really a way to edit the built in HD list on 211?

I wanted to complain about this list getting too big. Especially with the duplicate channel mapping, and the CI, PPV, Big10 Alts, and such. I guess these are growing pains of HD, and growth is still desirable.

Plus its hard to get mad, when the solution is right there. Create you own favorites list and use that.

I tried creating another list but found it more impractical to have yet another list of favorites vs having too many items in the HD list. Eventually, as the number of HD channels grows, IMO Dish will have to re-think the way they present the all HD built in list.

I mainly use it to check to see what new HD channels are being listed. I can't read Satelliteguys every day. Even if I did it doesn't always connect as to what channel the new HD stations are on.

I set up a favorite listing that omits the duplicates. Problem is, when a new HD channel is added, it doesn't appear on my new listing -- only in the Dish "All HD" listing. Which means that I need to constantly monitor the Dish HD listing and add new HD channels manually to my listing. If I hadn't checked this forum today, I would probably ended up watching the baseball playoffs in SD on TBS because the new TBS HD channel does not show up in my Sports listing either.

Dish used to add all new channels to all of the "Favorite" listings to alert you that a new channel is now available. You could then remove it from your listings as appropriate. Lately, they have not been doing this. So having your own favorites listings doesn't really solve the problem of all the HD duplicates. Dish needs to eliminate them from the master listings --we don't need our channels duplicated.

Since Dish has yet to perfect Crystal Ball technology, new channels have never been automatically added to any Favorites List. All Subscribe, yes. As far as duplicates, Menu, 6, 9, Chan Display, Dish HD Channels, Disable. Only 9*** channels wil display in All HD that are duplicated.

I tried that but the channels are still there. They are just sorted by channel number. An example would be locals would be listed twice once with their normal station number and once with the 6000's numbers. HBO is listed twice also

It sounds like your are talking about the All Channels or All Subscribe. ALL HD will not show SD channels. What I was referring to was ALL HD guide.

I am going through and creating my own list of favorites (#4 including the three defaults) on my livingroom Dish box. It is a mix of HD and standard channels, without the garbage duplicates in SD, religious stations, country stations, shopping, multiple sports channels I don't get, premiums I don't get, etc... it would be nice if you could do what I am doing and then have it automatically add any new channels Dish adds until you go in and erase them. As it is now, I'll have to go in and look under the default guides to see if they added any channels or look on this site.

I am doing this on my VIP211 box right now and planned on doing the bedroom 622 DVR list next. Did somebody say you can't add this list on the 622? Maybe I read that wrong.

This thread did give me a good idea! I will lock out the duplicate channels when I get home tonight, I am sick of seeing some channels listed three or four times.
