Is there any 'talk' of new DPP54 or DPP64 switches?

Tom
I think his installer said they'd give him a Dish500 for 129 and patch it into his SD. If the tech was smart, he'd use a D1000 for 110/119/129 and peak his SD at 121 for locals.

Okay, that makes sense.

It would be a shame to have to have a SD121 mounted solely for locals.

That's my situation too, except I can get all of my locals in HD via an indoor antenna. So I don't have to worry about getting 121.

A good antenna in Rockford could pick up a fair amount of HD. I believe there are 4 digital stations in Rockford. I once read of a person there who put up an outdoor antenna and picked up something like 15-20 digital stations out of Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago.

Ive seen people do that. Aim SD for 121 only (to optimize signal) and use their D500 for 110/119

DAMN....oh to live in a place like that :)
(our lake house can get a fair amount of stations..(from Minneapolis, Duluth, sometimes Fargo or Eau Claire...but they're all fuzzy) :(

I plan on calling today since I got my 622 yesterday and I have an install scheduled for 2/21 and I want to see what the work order has called for me. I am in a 105 locals area. I hope they will install a D1000 so I can take down the SD in June

not all of them are moving to 110

-The minor locals on 129 are probably staying
-The minor locals in the non Dish1000 areas (NE US and Florida) will be first
-The SD 105 stuff will move to 110 next
Roanoke VA locals went to 129 last summer..We had techs up there installing d-1000's due to must carry. There were quite a few NLOS due to the mountainous terrain in the Roanoke area....
A rep from DNSC met with us. He said Erie,PA locals are also going over to 129.....I would be willing to bet there will be LOS issues up there for 129.... D-1000 in that area elevatin is 28 degrees.....The 129 is at 24.5 in my area which is at 35 deg N...Erie is about 40 deg N......whew!

Well the reason i think ill need a dish 500 is becuase the 1000 will only pick up 3 satellites. And the three that i need at 110, 119, 121(rockford locals). But in order to get the 129 sat i will need a dish 500 right?

It all comes down to what Iceberg and I have been saying. No matter what, you'll have your SD121, but it all depends on how the 129 is to be pulled in. Either with D1000 or D500.

Depending on the installer, he'll either go SD121 carrying 110, 119, and 121 and a D500 for the 129.....OR, SD121 carrying only the 121 and D1000 for the 110, 119 and 129.

Personally, I would take my chances with the former over the latter.

The dish 1000 will get 110/119/129. to get 121, you need the Superdish. A D1000 WILL NOT get 121.

Tech really has 2 options)
The tech will either put up a D500 (or D300 if he has them) for 129 and leave the SD as is for 110/119/121
Put up a D1000 and use that for 110/119/129 and repeak the SD for 121 only

so should i call a local installer and see if they can install the other dish before i get my 1000 and 622 so im set up, or should i wait until after the crap gets installed, then call dish and set up another installation through them

I dont think Dish is phasing out Dish500's to Dish1000's just yet because they are packing out the Dish500's with the prepaid Dish / Dish Now systems. Some retailers may just be buying the Dish1000's instead of the Dish500's as they only cost $10 more and maybe they are keeping the 129 lnbf for the price difference?

Some people have had success tiewrapping an lnb to the side of the superdish 121 lnb assembly and getting 129 that way with a single dish.

Do we stop discuss the SUBJECT ? !
RIGHT!

Q. Do we need DPP54 or DPP64 switches?

A. Yes, but we won't see any. E*'s official position is that no single receiver is to get more than 4 orbital slots. It's on the paperwork and the website (no, I'm not gonna spend the time finding it).
