Is it possible to have a satellite TV signal but NO OTA antenna signal?

Somehow, today my antenna has been cutting in and out, and sometimes the signal doesn't come in at all. Could it be that the weather knocked some of the antenna connection out of place? Maybe a wire or something? It can't be the antenna itself, for I checked it and it looks good. Could it be something else? I find it weird because if one of the two (satellite and antenna) goes out, wouldn't it be the satellite TV and not the OTA antenna? What is going on today? Will it be better later? I'd hate to pay for another service call for the installers who put the antenna up.

If your OTA signal is out altogether, it is probably isn't weather unless you are a great distance away from the towers.

I usually start by looking at the balun (the adapter from coax to the terminals on the antenna) and confirming it is still connected to the terminals. Check the inside of the connector to see if it is wet or corroded inside.

It wouldn't hurt to do a cursory inspection on the cable to make sure it isn't smashed or cut somewhere along the line.

Don't forget to check where the cable connects to the TV.

If you're still using twinlead, you should probably replace it with coax.

Make sure they used a balun (30-75 ohm transformer) that's outdoor rated at the antenna.. I've fixed many 'weekend warrior installers' and self installs with one.

I don't know if they did. But the company that installed it, New Dimension Electronics in Austin, MN, has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. They are usually very thorough. And it seems to be working now. Only didn't work for like 45 minutes. I will post about this again if it doesn't work again. And if worse comes to worse, I'll have to pay for another service call from these guys.

End of the antenna?
