to D* to record TV in HD? Not for me it isn't. I'm beginning to wonder if it is worth it to even DVR anything at all now that I've got a DVD recorder. Sure the DVR does a lot be it is worth that much? Hmmmmmm.......

The advantage of a DVR is that you can pause your show, choose to record a show after it has started recording, save you on having to buy discs, etc. Does your DVD recorder record HD or only SD? That is something you may have forgotten about. An HD DVD recorder/player will set you back quite a bit as well. An SD DVR is a LOT cheaper than the $500 price tag for an HD DVR.

That was my whole point. I have two of them. So who would be willing to "lease" one for $500????????

There is a big difference between a DVR and a DVD. If you don't know then it's not worth the $500.
