Is Dish moving to eastern arc?

Unless these LIL markets are on CONUS, they're not recovering any usable downlink bandwidth by abandoning spot beams that point to the other arc.

EchoStar 18 will be launched to 110W next year. They are probably moving things around to be ready to take advantage of it's design and configuration ( which is yet to be seen).

Last month when , I upgraded to Hopper, the installer insisted that I get a new single Dish over the two dish hookup that I had. Pensacola is on two spot beams, but he left me on Eastern Arc, where my two dish system was. The WA spotbeam is not needed for any other city in this zone.

I'm in the charlotte area and have western arc...at the old house I had ea...but when I moved for a year I got put on west and then when I built the house and moved again it was west arc...

So are they going to try and get me on ea or should I not worry ???

No need to fret ashutto. At some point Dish may decide to switch you to the EA,but who knows when that will be.

It would make some sense if Dish were to mirror 118 on 77, at least the lower 2/3 of the US could use EA only and still get internationals.

Is there a rumor that 118 will be mirrored on 77 ?

Not that I am aware of unfortunately. It was just a thought of what they could use 77 for, since they are limited in its use.

I have eastern arc and 118 and was wondering what the result would be for 118 if they did this.

Not that I have heard.

Those on Eastern Arc will need a second DISH pointed at 118.7

You may have just started one. ;)

With this history, blugras will be after apps on 118....

It was just an idle thought that Dish is not using 13 TPs on 77, with Eastern Arc's Mpeg4 and 8PSK encoding they probably could carry the entire 118 satellite in the empty TPs. I do not know what Dish plans to do with 77 in the long run.

That is a mystery. The removed many/most of the local markets that were on there, only to then add some. It's been underused for a long time now.

I thought that 77 sat was mostly being used by DISH MEXICO service. They are only using it for a few conus beam locals in the country and I think most of them are also being put on spot beams on 61.5 now.

Last I looked there were now somewhere around 25 markets there. (Some may have part of the market there)

Last time i scanned at 77, all 32 transponders were in use. Mexico is using all the tps not in usa service.

I'd just like to see 129 channels put on 110 or 119 to avoid that stupid low arc we have around where I install. 23-24 degrees in elevation is a damn hard thing to hit with all the mountains and trees. To this day I can't understand why Dish didn't think this through when they put the locals in HD only on 129 when even 72 would have been a better option. You can go around sticking EA 1000.2's everywhere on new customers rather than trying to squeeze in 129 aims.
