Is Big Brother watching YOU?!

$5 sez he never spends a night in a cell!!!

I'll take that bet..... He'll get pardoned, but it won't be until AFTER the next presidential election. he'll pardon him on the way out the door....

If he cuts him loose now, the Dems get to brag about how much disdain the Bushies (and the Neocons) have for the rule of law. They do, but they don't want to make the Dems job too easy for them next year... Look for Scooter to be promised some sweetheart thinktank job if he shuts up and does his time for a 18 months and then he gets his pardon in January 2009.

Is big brother watching you

Dish is using a software product from Everstream to collect data and monitor customer viewing experience. 85% of the cable companies use the same product. You can get more info at everstream.com

Isn't BIG Brother the government, not a private company.

Tivo does this all the time.

It's no big deal and perfectly legitimate and legal.

When you subscribe to the service you consent to the data collection.

Oh, so those little plastic round ports AREN'T cameras? ;)

Cutting a plastic bottle into 2, 2" x 4" squares, scuffing them with
sand paper on both sides, and taping them over the camera eye on the front
will obscure their view without interfering with the remote functions. You may also want to put a drop of glue on the microphone on the circuit board with a
syringe so that they will be limited on what they hear as well, ha ha. I'm kidding
of course...or am I ????

Now that's some paranoia. ;)

No need to do that... cell phones are already being used in this manner and are probably more widely spread. Police can remotely activate them and listen in to anything in the area of the phone (without the user being aware that its being done)

HEADLINE: Everstream Expands Television Viewer Measurement;
"Channeling" Software Module Available to Rapidly Expanding Data Collection Footprint of 20 Million Subscribers

DATELINE: CLEVELAND

BODY:

Everstream, a Concurrent (NASDAQ:CCUR) company and industry leader of software for broadband network usage measurement, today announced the release of its ReportOne 2.0 Channeling solution, designed for comprehensive collection and rapid reporting for digital broadcast and on-demand television channels. This innovative TV measurement module is available to Everstream's growing footprint, which surpassed the 20 million digital subscribers mark earlier this month.

"The 20 million digital subscriber milestone proves the industry has reached critical mass with regard to being a significant source for next generation audience measurement," stated Charlie Lougheed, president and co-founder of Everstream. "We believe this year will mark the advent of new capabilities and relationships that will drive content expansion and dynamic advertising between operators and networks."

Built atop the Everstream DataSuite(TM) collection and warehousing framework, the ReportOne Channeling solution standardizes disparate data sources ranging from guide middleware, set-top boxes, and switched digital video systems. Combined with the ubiquitous support for long tail video on demand and internet streaming content, ReportOne enables powerful analysis and secure data sharing capabilities across multiple video distribution outlets.

Everstream's ReportOne 2.0 software package now supports Microsoft's popular MSTV platform, as well as support for standard audience measurement metrics such as ratings, reach, and share. These capabilities enable operators to delineate viewing time versus channel surfing time, as well as analyze channel packaging and advertising potential. ReportOne comes equipped with a wide array of concise dashboards, scorecards and report templates compliant with industry standards and subscriber privacy regulations. In addition, the platform is designed to enable report customization to accommodate the unique requirements of each business user.

"The old adage, 'In God we trust, all others bring data,' is a definitive fact of life now," said Rick Sizemore, multimedia content, and interactive digital advertisement expert for iSuppli. "Census-based tools that deliver detailed audience measurement data can save the advertising industry billions of dollars."
