is a HR20-100s compatible with SWM/Whole Home dvr?

Yes they are but you need to wire them a little different. The HR20-100 can not power the DECA module on the SWiM tuner port. You need to split the cable running to the HR20 and plug the Deca module into tuner 2 and use band stop filter and run a line to tuner 1.
I was lucky and had the setup prior to the techs understanding this and they swapped my HR20 with an HR24 at no costs.

So basically, the way I have my r16 plugged into the swm?

No, you r16 is SWM compatible, but not MRV available.
You need a 2nd H or HR series box to use MRV.

Only Mpeg4 HD box that not mrv compatable is the H20 and Directv will swap those out for free if your doing a MRV upgrade.
... So is the hr20 compatible or not? I already have mrv, I found a good deal on an hr20 and wanted to know if it could work.
