I wonder how cable companies lease the similar equipment without any contract binding and still make money but Dish needs the upfront fees and comittment!
I guess cable guys do charge more for the lease ($2) and probably more for the service. That I guess mostly to do with the local issues (like contract with city for running cables and other local taxes).
Just to be clear, I am not really comparing the services between the two or the supply/demand dynamics that dictate priceing, just plain question on relative cost of each equipment.
