IR extender compatible with HR34?

I notice the HR34 has an IR extender jack on the back (3.5mm?)... I'm coming up pretty empty as I search for compatible Extenders.

Infrared Solutions seems one common supplier, but they make a huge point about only buying something listed in their list of tested/known compatible.. and the HR34 isn't in that list.

For the sake of this discussion, I'd prefer to avoid buying an extender which uses an emitter taped to the front of the box. I'm only interested in using the jack on the rear of the HR34.

It might would be best to contact DIRECTV via email to ask them,as I'm sure that not every CSR would know the answer to that question.
