iptv receiver shutoff

will the signal (bandwidth) from the internet continue to be used even if the iptv receiver is shutoff?

From what I know, the answer is no, since you are not watching anything then its not streaming from the internet.

However the unit may use the internet at times to "phone home" or download software updates etc.
