Is there a comparison list for all the free and pay services available now (Netflix, Hulu Etc...)? Something that would show what's out there and what programming they offer.

Haven't seen one, but I'll chime in here....

Seems like many of the "free" services which are advertising supported (I don't mind the concept, it has worked for years...given content I want to see) Don't seem to make proper "breaks" in former network TV or syndicated shows they buy! n2tv's first break in the first thing I watched was an arbitrary location, and had to "re-load" on my Roku box. Based on that clunkiness, I'll remove that channel.

Crackle was better, doesn't require reloading after a "commercial" but is not smooth either. Breaks are a few seconds off from original places which are very obvious! With today's technology, why can't channel operators do this properly with simple "tones" to fire their sponsors' ads like radio does, or use something similar? Proper automation has been done for years on "real" TV....and if they want us to like them, making the system that retrieves the ads work SMOOTHLY may help! If IPTV is anything like today's radio, it shouldn't be tough to accomplish today what it took "real people" to do decades ago in a control room, and shouldn't cost much to get it right, either.

Given some of the rough edges, IPTV is going to end up like all other media. Those with attention to detail (paid or free services) that can render a GOOD service will survive, The rest will not make it.

What surprises me is, (and you can accuse me of it, too..but I think you see where I'm coming from)...the "free" services are not something any of us have a real right to complain about. After all, what do we pay???? I do, however, as a broadcaster feel that if you're going to offer the public something, give it your best with attention to detail, like noted above. Put commercials where they FIT NATURALLY and people won't mind your advertising-based product!
