muldrow, ok
Hi. I am trying change from 18" round to slimline 3 so that I can get hd channels. The channels show up on the guide, but they won't come through (searching 771 message). What am I doing wrong?

Do you have you mast plumb and level? Also, have you installed bbc's (B-band converters). What are the signal strengths on the 99c 103ca and 103cb?

:welcome to Satelliteguys vebrinson!

I think Hutch hit on your problem asking about the bbcs. What type of setup do you have? Are you using a swm lnb, one with only one connection available on it? Which receiver/dvr do you have?

I do not have a bbc. Do I need one? I thought I did but the guy at radio shack thought I didn't. When I test my signal strength, it only gives me satellite: 101 degree, and the strengths are good. I can go up or down to change the degree, but my brother has multiple degrees (101, 103, etc) which show at the same time. So I wonder if I am missing a vital component.
My receiver is H24-100; my dish is slimline 3.

I am probably too much of a novice to be on this site - but I really appreciate the help.

If you have a swm lnb, then you don't need the bbc. Can you get the model number of the lnb for us?

the model # is SL3K4RO-01

You need a bbc. You also need to rerun satellite setup and set the receiver up to see the 99, 101, and 103. This should get you started, as long as the dish is peaked in enough you'll atleast receive the HD however if it's not peaked to the max you'll receiver rain fade much faster.

Not to worry about being a novice! That's what the sites for, to help people get their system up and running or repaired! Welcome aboard!

Sorry, I had no luck looking that number up. Is there a small black plug in module called a power inserter that goes with your setup? Another way to identify the lnb is by taking it off of the arm it's connected to and looking where the cable plugs in. How many possible connection spots are there?

I'm assuming he has a slimline. The model number would have a "S" in it if it's a SWM LNB.

The lnb has 4 ports. I only have one hooked up going straight into my receiver. I don't know about a power inserter, but someone gave me this satellite and lnb, so I could be missing something. I am concerned that other options are not being shown to me (as far as degrees, when I check my signal strength). I did reset my receiver to no avail. I hate to buy a bbc if I am not going to be able to get it to work anyway.

The lnb is not a swm type, so you do need the bbc. I have one I can send to you but it would take a couple of days to get to you. All you would have to do is pay for shipping. Let me know. BTW, the power inserter is only used with a swm lnb, so you don't need it.

Thanks so much! I would love that. How do I pay you? Do you have a paypal account?

Thanks again!

that is probably a good idea. I don't know how to edit the thread, but someone did it for me. However, my address is still in the quote in your post, Jimbo. Can you edit it? Thanks
