Remember me? Still fighting to get 5 LNB over our old 1 sat system. Anyway...same old tech comes out today (stupid kid) says the same thing as always, "You can't see the 119 and the 110 is cutting it close. Oh and stop using the sun as a predictor!"
First...its Oct I can use the sun at times so sayth another website!

After a bit he tells me the "any-day-now" D* is dropping the 110 and 119 because they are always issues and to call back after that happens. I looked around and couldn't find anything that said anything remotely about that...anyone know about this? Or was the kid speaking out of turn again (same guy who said the wire can only be run 75' for HD).

Also...is there a way to request NOT to have a specific tech out? And there has got to be a better way to do this than ordering new service onces a week just to get a guy to come out and shoot down another location (I know the tech is supposed to survery all sites before shooting it down...tell that to this guy).

Pissed in 17003... (I NEED DVR DARN IT!)

i haven't heard anything to confirm what he told you. my best educated guess is that he's talking out of turn. maybe, somebody else has heard something?

From what you've typed, I think he's feeding you a line of BS.
The 110 and 119 will be used at LEAST till everything goes HD MPEG 4, which could be over a year ...
Then I would see them still using it for channels that are SD only.

I called Tech Support and they laughed...they said, like you guys, in a year or two but never really phasing it out.

Thanks so much guys...this is an amazing forum...once I get everything running I'm sure I'll have more questions.

On our local AVSForum, someone who just had D* installed this past week was talking about how their installer said (with some sincerity and certainty) that we in DMA#100 (Charleston, SC) would be getting our HDLIL on October 17th or 18th. While I would like to have my HDLIL, knowing that this info came from a D* installer (and not in these forums :) ) makes me cringe. I get all my locals via OTA and everything is fine there, so I don't NEED the HDLIL, but I am taking this info with a giant salt lick based solely on past misinformation - intentional or otherwise.

Stand behind the dish.

If you see trees, just wait.............when the leaves fall off check you system.......if things get better cut some trees before spring.

OR

Spend 500 large on a meter and see how you do.

atp,
It IS possible, seeing D* does not have a list that they are required to follow, the nelsion is a guide line apperantly because others have popped up out of order.

Tech support guy told me last night that the next SAT is going up at the end of Oct, but we are all pretty sure that ,THAT is not happening ....

But knowing the track record of installers making claims and CSR's making claims that aren't even in the ballpark, do you think there is any reason to believe that given the pre-launch spot beam issues that D* will try to launch any new HD-LIL's until they are done rolling out the national HD channels?
