Installer said I can't get DTV Signal but he can pirate NFL Signal?

I had an installer come out and walk around my property, saying that I could not get the Direct TV signal because of some large pine trees in my backyard. I begged him to spend more time looking but it was later in the evening on a weeknight, and he wouldn't even go up on my roof. I told him I was a HUGE football fan, and just moved to this new house, and HAD to be able to get the Sunday Ticket. He told me that for like $150, he would install a satellite dish in my front yard and wire it to one t.v. and reciever which he would give me, allowing me to recieve the Sunday Ticket ONLY, and I'd never have to pay for it.

How come I could possibly get that signal but can't do it legitimately? He said something about the NFL Ticket satellite being "higher in the sky" or something to that affect? Does that make sense?

I turned him down, obviously, but I really want to get Direct T.V. and the NFL Ticket legitimately.

I don't know what that means. I've never had satellite before, so I don't know all of the terminology.

I would call Directv and report the installer. One thing I can't stand is people stealing Directv/DISH programming.

Even if it is an FTA receiver, the installer is violating his contract with his employer and trying to sell some other (semi-legal to illegal, BTW) product on company time.

The OP should call DirecTV security and report him, and then ask that a different installer from a different contractor group do a site survey.

which we all know can be used for illegal activities! if the op says thats what the installer did, he should inform directv. i don't see a reason why the OP would make this up. we weren't there. he came for advise and we gave it to him.this isn't a court of law.no one's judging here

Presumption of innocence has nothing to do with reporting suspicious activities. In fact, that is our duty as citizens. Presumption of innocence is simply ONLY a legal issue in which law enforcement and/or the legal system follows once someone is under investigation.

If the installer was legit, he would have told the OP that he would get some feeds of the Sunday games, but not all.

As I read the above statement the OP was told he would get the "Sunday Ticket" and "never have to pay". I think this fits the old axiom about stuff being too good to be true. (or honest).

As a side note here, If anyone has a legal receiver that is going to allow me to get "all" of the sunday ticket games, with out hacking...I would be interested.

I would follow the advise that some others have offered. Call Directv, let them know what was said, and ask for another installer.

There is no presumption of guilt if you simply relate a conversation, and ask for another installation company.

You can't get NFL backfeeds anymore. Preseason only and then they're on different Sats. If there was a way to get free Sunday Ticket someone on the internet forums would have heard of it.

Since when does the first part ever happen and what are you talking about with dns employee's sniffing for black boxes? Nothing like that ever happened over the 6 years that I worked for dish.
