A Secluded Beach In, Fl.
They came today and installed my 2nd receiver in my Livingroom and HD DVR 24 *** something. And now the HR20-700 in my livingroom and my HR20-700 in my 2nd bedroom will not get sat 103 only on 2 receivers the new one and the one in the matser bedroom work fine.
Anyone have any clue what the problem would be?
The installer couldn't find the problem.

Is it SWM? Do you have 4 or 1 lines coming from the dish? Is the connectors good? Did they run the IV-retest? Several questions that we need to know first. It could be as simple as the switch is going bad or something. What's the signal on the 103 on the HR24?

What dish/LNB do you have? Is it standard or SWM? Your profile shows 4 HR20's, that's 8 tuners. By adding another DVR you now have ten. A SWM can only handle 8, unless you have the proper splitters etc.

I think he only has 3 active. He only mentions 3 so I'm assuming that is all he is using

This may be true, but to give an accurate answer we need more information on what he has and how it's connected.

That was my very 1st post. Without knowing what it is or anything it's kind of a lost cause

And as it is with most forums, I was typing my reply (somewhat slowly) while you posted yours. :D
So we now wait for the OP to post his additional info.

4 lines from the dish into my attic to a 8 plug- in switch,, he disconnected all the lines and put a box on each one so he could tell which lines went to which receiver. He had to disconnect my D10 standard box from my mother-inlaw suite since he had no room left for it.
When the guy hooked my HDTV to the new HD-DVR with RCA plug into a RCA inlet on my HDTV I knew he didn't know what he was doing. I told him how to connect the DVR to the HDTV with a component line that he didn't have so I used the one from my DVD player and I guess I'll run it through the my Yamaha Receiver. When He said he didn't own a TV I just couldn't believe that.
One of the HD DVR's in my bedroom started working ok about a hour ago but the livingroom 2nd unit hasn't.
I just noticed that the new HR24 box dosen't have a over-the-air tuner, Is the HR20-700 the only one that has it? and can I just buy a used one off fleabay and get a new card from D*?

If by "8 plug-in switch" you mean a Zinwell WB68 multiswitch, then one of the ports may bad.
Exactly how many receivers/DVRs are being used? Did the install guy use any other splitters when connecting them?

The HR20's are the only DVRs with a built-in OTA tuner. You can buy the AM21 external tuner that will integrate the OTA just the same as the HR20.

Another thing I was wondering about is why they didn't ask me If I wanted the Home Media Center box since it has 5 tuners.
The guy only had to run 1 cable (#5) since he used the single line I had run already. I didn't know they used that old cable for HD.
I do like how fast the HR24 box is compared to the 3 HR20's I have.

The HMC isn't out in all locations at the moment.
Also, it's a steep price if you don't get the $ 99 deal.

And to add to that, it's SWM only. They had a deal going where they would covert it for free if you agreed to a new contract and MRV.

I had to agree to a new 2 year deal for this one box. That is another thing..he just brought the receiver , remote and a RCA cable into the house. What happened to all the stuff that comes in the box, like the HDMI cable, all the other cables, paperwork and all that?

The receivers that techs carry only have the power cord and receiver itself. We carry HDMI cables and remotes now so the box are empty
