INDEMAND will carry MLB EI? No so fast says MLB... How about E*?

I noticed that MLB games are in the Extended EPG guide data for Dish. Attached is a screenshot for the guide data for April 03. The SKDL channels are the channels that Dish uses for all the sports packages (Center Ice, NBA, ESPN Full Court, MLB EI, etc).

Doesn't mean that they'll be available or even shown, but at least they went through the trouble of importing the MLB EI guide data into their system...

those SKDL if I remember from JohnH are mirrors of the ALT channels 444 thru 453, not for MLB Extra Innings.

I just got off the phone with DISH's customer service and when I asked whether or not DISH would carry the MLB Extra Innings package the woman replied, "LMN is on channel 109." Then, I explained to her that MLB stands for Major League Baseball not Lifetime Movie Network. Overally, it was not an encouraging call.

Couldn't just let that go, that is freaking funny...sad, but funny

Thats reminds me of a few years ago asking the cable company if they carried HDTV, and the operator told me ... "yes, HGTV is on channel 47"

She had no idea what HDTV was.

All kidding aside, guys, the season begins in 3 (THAT'S THREE WITH A CAPITAL "T") days. I'd like to finally know if we are going to get the MLB Extra Inning package on Dish, or will it be a long, long season of sitting on my hard computer chair squinting at my monitor watching the games on MLB TV. Come on, Charlie, either make us smile by reaching a deal, or let us fans know the bad news so we can make other plans before Sunday.

If D* has equity in the new MLB Channel then they do have a right concerning that part of the deal.

Not necessarily. A 20% equity stake does not mean you can veto deals and in this case there is an appearance of impropriety.

If I understand this correctly, the deal as it stands now gives D* %20 of the upcoming MLB channel. If this is so, and the other 4 (4 right?) providers all submit matching offers and demand the same exact deal, would that mean that each of the 5 providers owns %20? And in the end MLB would have no stake in its own channel? Quite a thought.

The 5 are D*, E*, Comcast, Cox, and TimeWarner/In-demand right?

DISH has said from the beginning that it would be equal only if they got a 20% stake as DirecTV did. let's face it this deal is not the same for all parties.

D* is backed in a corner right now and all they can do is criticize cable and try to shift the focus off their crooked arrangement with the MLB. Specter and Kerry are not going to let this go through, they might as well start making concessions now before Congress kills the deal all together.

Crooked Deal?

The thead was about how In Demand was going to match D*'s bid and people started praising In Demand and wondering aloud "will E* match the offer?"

Why shame on you all who though this. If its just D* who gets MLB EI its a crooked deal.

If the others step up to the plate then what D* bid was fine.

Please use me as a referall when you switch to D* so you can watch MLB.

Or you can always stop by and watch. I usually have good food and drinks on hand.

I do believe it IS a crooked deal.

They want Dish and Cable to pay the same as DirecTV, but they are not giving them all the they are giving to DirecTV for the price, and this is partial ownership of the upcoming MLB Baseball Channel.

Why should other companies pay the same as DirecTV but not get all the same perks that DirecTV is getting?

The only problem I have with this deal is that it still doesn't affect the amount of people that:

Cannot get Comcast Sports Net Philly because Comcast won't sell to the satellite companies
Cannot get InHD on satellite because InHD and their cable carrier owners want to charge against every single satellite subscriber
Cannot get Cox 4 San Diego because Cox does not wish to have the station carried on satellite.

The above three points would each affect more than the 230,000 subscribers Extra Innings subscribers that will be left out in the cold by this arrangement. Yet nothing can be done about any of those three points...

And dont forget, Dish Network still does not carry the yankees on the Yes Network.

Yes Network is now 5 years old! My how time flies!
Yet they carry just about EVERY other RSN in America. Maybe Charlie is just a Yankees hater. It couldn't be that the Yankees want more money than everyone else, could it?

Charlie once said on a Charlie Chat...

That if Cablevision was able to get a deal with Yes, then Dish would carry Yes.

Cablevision got a deal with YES, however YES was never mentioned by Charlie on the air again.
