Increasing rewind time

I have a 722k, and it will only allow me to rewind 30 minutes on some channels and 60 minutes on others. On the 625 that was replaced by the 722k it would let me rewind 2 hours back.

Is there anyway I can increase the rewind time allowed? I really miss rewinding up to two hours back.

The buffer on HD is less than half the time of SD. IOW, there's no more program to rewind to.

Oh okay. I guess I'll have to get in the habit of recording my programs instead then. Thanks anyway.

Isn't that the point of a DVR? ;) I never watch live TV anymore. I can never sneak in some live viewing anyways in the evening since it is usually tied up recording things.

I know what you mean, though. When we had a 625 we would sometimes get 2/3 of the way through a movie and think...'we should record this' and back up to the beginning and hit record. With our 722 we've got burned a few times thinking we could do this but more than an hour had already elapsed, so no go.

You don't have to back up.....just hit record button and it gives you options to record remainder of the program....or if you were tuned to that channel the entire time it will say you can record the entire event.......at least this is how the 625 works....

Once again, HUGE difference in buffer sizes between SD and HD machines..

My HD buffer on my 622 is 1 hour, so is the SD buffer and therefore I assume the HD buffer is 3-4 times as large as the SD because if the amount of data buffered.

I'm sure the software programmers have it set to use 1 hour of HD space as the buffer and the buffer time set to 1 hour regardless of quality.

True, but for something like a movie that has been on for a while I prefer to go back, make sure what I want is all there, and hit record where I want it to start and then go back to live TV.

Hopefully you're not watching 'Spartacus' or 'Lawrence of Arabia' when you try to do this. :)
I just did it with 'The 10 Commandments' and got 3/4 of a 4 hour movie. I'm laughing right now because it's so silly to have 3 hours of a movie and still be missing the first 25%! ;)

It has been a long time since I have watched a live program ... it has been a long time since I have actually seen a commercial!
