Improper guide information

I tried calling Dish but after being asked to reboot my machine a few times had then being on hold for 20 minutes I thought I would try a different channel. The problem 2 of the shows I like to record for later viewing which are new every single day are no longer marked as new. The 2 in question are on Fox News channel 205, The Five and The Tucker Carlson Show. Since they stopped being marked as new I was of course not recording anything and changing my recording option to all episodes uses a tuner to record duplicate episodes and causes tuner conflicts. Is there anyone here from Dish that can look into this?

Another issue again with Fox listings, every episode of The Greg Guttfeld show is marked as new so I get this one recorded multiple times each weekend.

Timers only work if guide data is correct.

Thanks in advance,
Rick

They are always new at the initial episode time but they do have rebroadcasts, as I explained I don’t want to have to record the same episode 2 - 3 times a day just to be able to record it. I am doing this now as it is the only way to record it with the broken guide info. I would like the guide to be correct so that the timers can work as advertised.

A lot of us would like to see the EPG fixed. But since Dish left Tribune for Shaky Jake’s Cheapo Guides and Cotton Candy Emporium, it’s been all downhill from there.

You might try setting a manual timer for the first showings.

Somewhere along the line they apparently took away the option to set timers by date/time, or I can’t find it. This of course makes the need for an accurate guide even more important.

Which DVR do you have? The H3 has an option to record daily.

It’s the Hopper 2, not sure how daily would work. The programs I want are on 5 days a week and are rebroadcast later the same day. Please let me know if I am missing something here.

Ok, i did a little searching and found that the “red” option that says Showing: Sort by Priority on the timers page has more stuff behind it including setting a manual timer. Be nice if it said “Options” or something more useful.

Thanks for triggering my desire to search for more options. Wish that were more obvious! I will use this until “hopefully” the guide becomes something I can trust.

If you use a newer remote (like the 54.0) then that screen does say "Press Options..." The older remotes do not have a button labeled "Options" which is why you see the red button symbol there instead.

The onscreen display changes based upon which remote you have! That’s interesting.

I actually use a Harmony remote so I can control all the attached devices and rely on the onscreen information to guide me through options. Back in the day when you hit record there was an option right there to select date/time or just to tune to the show. Now all these options are buried behind poorly labeled selections and record is the only option I have. Wish the record by time and tune only were back.

Yes, I noticed this because I go back and forth using various remotes, such as the 54.0, 52.0 (rarely), 40.0, and some older infrared remotes, as old as a 1.5! Only the 52.0 and 54.0 cause the screen to say "Press Options."

Yup, you keep your kernel in turmoil.

I have a problem with three news programs every day. ABC World News airs here at both 3:30 and 5:30 pm and both are marked "New", so I get it twice. The KGO ABC 7 11 PM news and the KPIX 11 PM news are both repeated at a later hour. All are marked "New", so the Hopper records them both twice. What I'm now doing to avoid the duplicates, if I remember, is going to my DVR Schedule and clicking "Skip" for all of the second airings.

I am assuming that the 3:30 PM broadcast is the same newscast that airs live in the Eastern Time Zone at 6:30 PM our time. It is rare, but occasionally when there is breaking news or an update to a story from the first broadcast, ABC will do a special edition of ABC World News for the west coast, which I assume your affiliate would air in the 5:30 PM time slot. In that case, it makes sense that both newscasts would be marked "New" in case there is any new news between 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM.

HWS hard drive crashed over night.
