I'm so pleased with myself!

Dee says "I see it becoming a money hole as well." LOL
It IS a little like Tom Hanks in 'The Money Pit', isn't it? Or, it can be,
Its funny in a way, we work and sweat and we swear, and when we finally get all the satellites up there, we find other things to adjust, re-aim, tweak. {the point is-THAT'S the point, the working on it all}
Admit it, you're hooked. All that great video for free, except the cost of electricity.

I don't know that I would go so far as to say I'm "hooked" on this stuff, I often come close to tossing it all out. But I really must confess that I have a little glow going on over the fact that I've managed to take a bunch of junk that I was really just moment from throwing all away and turning it into something usable.

I had only ever watched fashion TV on it a long time ago and when I finally turned it back on, it wasn't working anymore. I have no idea what the ex watched on it, we didn't cross paths too often, we both were gone a lot back then.

I had actually taken down several of the little uglies out there when some strange thought struck me to see if I could get it fixed. I really have no idea what made me stop and think it over. I really just do not know.

I still wish I could get FTV again, I do miss it. Lots of good background music and on rare occasion they would actually show something I would consider wearing.

I wouldn't mind subscribing to FTV but I visited their website and they are just crazy for how much they want. Oh well.

So I guess the next thing to try is adding more satellites. I mean, why not?
I don't have much to do lately so it gives me something to keep my poor little brain occupied and off my troubles.

Well, it's much too late and I must go shopping in the morning, there's some very yummy yogurt at the grocery store with my name on it, calling out for me to come save it from the cold, cold cooler and put it safely in my warm tummy. :D Yes, I am seriously Jonesing for yogurt.

Nite nite all.. :)

I believe ya'll are right, she is comming around.

After turbosat opened the door with this -
Its funny in a way, we work and sweat and we swear, and when we finally get all the satellites up there, we find other things to adjust, re-aim, tweak. {the point is-THAT'S the point, the working on it all}
She even passed on a perfect opportunity to throw down the "must be a guy thing" card.
What she did miss is the REAL reason her neighbor made her stretch her wings is that if he did it all for her he would continue to have to everytime there as a problem. Smart guy.
Ya'll remember when she detested the idea of even one little ugly gray dish out there? Now she's talking a farm (two is a couple, more than that is a farm:D)
Yup, she's comming around. It wont be long..... a DSR922, an AZBox, a half dozen little ugly dishes comming in on here new 8X1 switch and a 10' mesh with a Corotor II.....Lord help us then.....lol

Oh, she's talking more dishes, but let's see how she paints them all! -
But you're right: Dee is one of us, now!

Well wouldn't you know it!

One of the little parts came in and I have to go out of town for a few days.
Figures.

Well, the little box for putting 8 satellites on at once came in.
My (somewhat) helpful neighbor said he would offer *some* advice as to installing it. Grrrrrr... Yeah, I know, it's for my own good. I need to learn to do it for myself.

Well, I'm packing for a few days out of town. Something important came up.
I'll have to worry about it when I get back.

Knowing my luck and seeing how things are going, this and amg will be gone like the rest and I'll have to move that stupid dish, again. I would like to try to get pbs and maybe something else that would suffice as replacements for this and amg because as sure as the sun rises, they will be gone soon.

OMG. What are all those ugly little grey things sprouting up in my back yard???
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Just be sure you're computer/receiver is off before you start connecting or disconnecting those satellite lines. It's possible to short out the switch, or ports on it if you "hot-plug" it.

Dee,

Your famous by now neighbor may be wrong again. :) The switch, he suggested, is DiSEqC 1.1 uncommitted. Your Coolsat 6000 Premium is DISEqC Control Version 1.0, 1.2 and USALS compatible. According to [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DiSEqC"]DiSEqC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Diseqc.gif" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8d/Diseqc.gif"@@AMEPARAM@@en/8/8d/Diseqc.gif[/ame], you might be OK controlling this switch via your Coolsat. However, in practice both forum threads Noob with diseqc 1.1 8x1 switch with Viewsat Extreme (diseqc 1.2 only) and SV8000 & Digiwave DGS-SW8X1 Switch? report having a hard time controlling this switch in both stationary and motorized setups via a DiSEqC 1.2 & USALS supporting receiver. You may need to consider a backup solution, suggested above.

A Visionsat IV-200 should be able to control the Digiwave switch, and its a great box since it has a built-in PVR function for recording anything you might want to save for future viewing ;)

Try again zamar23,
The Coolsat 6000 supports DiSEqC 1.1 just fine.
She'll need to set "DiSEqC Switch" in "Installation -> Dish Settings" to "1.0/1.1" and change the "uncommited" setting to chose the different ports on the Digiwave switch

Thanks! As I understand from your comment, the switch need not be represented as a motor to work, and hence is also expected to work fine in a motorized setup - did you try that? I don't have that particular receiver, but Dee ordered it. :) How many switch ports its possible to select that way? How this switch performs long term compare to 4x1 DiSEqC switches like Chieta? Is it a combo committed & uncommitted? I might be interested to get one.

Been wanting to buy one but always seem to need other parts. When I did have the money, no one sold it.

Long term? Can't say on the Digiwave.
Can't beat what I've gotten away with using a Chieta Heavy Duty 4x1 though.
Every port should be blown by now with all the times I've connected and disconnected while powered, but it keeps on truckin' flawlessly. :D
Not that I make a habit of doing that... :o

The Digiwave is fully uncommitted. You should be able to hook up a committed 2x1 or 4x1 to each port on the Digiwave and operate it just fine with the Coolsat 6000

All of the other 8x1 I found the last time I looked for a 8x1 are two 4x1 switched by a 2x1 uncommitted switch.
Useless when I have the fixed dishes in one part of the yard and the BUD with a 4x1 on the other end of the yard

Could have saved myself the writing but here's Iceburg's review on the switch from the Equipment Review section.

Thanks for the link. I should look at Equipment Review section more often. :) Still feedback from someone using the switch in a motorized setup would be appreciated.

Whew! And I'm back in town again.

So, that little coolsat 6000 tuner box came in. It sure is a little thing.
I do hate that bright red light on the front though. I wish I could figure out how to turn it off.

Ok. I have a few questions about the tuner box.

There is a little slot on the front behind a door that folds down, it looks like for one of those cards but the card is missing. Where would I get a replacement?

I put that 8 connector thing outside in the dishes. The pc tuner works fine with it. I can't figure out how to make the little tuner work with it though.

What does autoroll do? I tried turning it on and off but that didn't help.
It still doesn't seem to see the other satellites. So far all I can get it to see is just one satellite. :(

There are a bunch of connections on the back I have no idea what they are for.
I'm trying to figure out how to connect it into the house system so it plays all over the house like the pc does.

This thing didn't come with any books or papers or instructions at all.
I took a few pictures of it, maybe someone knows about these little boxes. It sure is an itty-bitty little thing.

I'll see if I feel better later this evening, it's been a long few days and I need to rest a bit, my back is killing me.

Thank you! :)

not needed. The slot behind it is actually empty. At one point there was a card reader that fit in the receiver but its used in Europe

on the dish setup page scroll down to "diseqc". Change it to Diseqc 1.0/1.1
go down to diseqc 1.1 and change the port to match what satellite is setup on the switch. So if say G18 (123W) is port 2, then change Diseqc 1.1 to port 2

sounds like there is hacker software in it that was used at one point to steal Dish Network service. Autoroll is useless in FTA

Oh oh..

So someone changed it into a hacker tuner? Can that be undone? I don't want that in there! I saw an option that said reset everything and I tried it but it keeps coming back. Someone must have put that in there, there must be a way to get it out, I hope.

Oh, and I can't find several of the satellites I want to put on the thing, it seems they aren't in there at all in the list.

I found where you set it to 1.0/1.1 but it only lets me change it to be "committed (1-4) and "uncommitted (1-16).

There is no option that I can find that turns off the committed option. In other words, you are forced to select both a committed setting and an uncommitted setting. I see no way to set it like was described in previous posts. :(

I guess this is another one of those silly ventures that only digs into my purse a little deeper each time. I can't ask my neighbor, it's way too late. And I think his girlfriend is getting tired of me pestering him.!protest

Ok, well I think I will give up on it for tonight and go back to sleep.

Thank you! :)

yes you can download the factory software into the receiver. Kinda common when you get a "previously enjoyed" receiver. Here is a link of the factory software and the loader

leave committed as 1...its no biggie with that switch you have since its uncommitted only

Dee

You need to connect both Coolsat and your PC Card to separate ports of your A/V Home Theater Receiver. Then you can switch btw the A/V Receiver's IN ports to play sound and show pic on your TV screen from a selected sat receiver. To connect Coolsat, use Component (better quality pic) or Composite video cable, RCA Stereo audio cable, and RCA Digital Audio Cable (to hear AC-3 Dolby Digital sound) - all 3 cables. You need RCA Stereo cable for an older A/V Receiver, also in case you have a second pair of speakers in another room, or want to record a show to a DVD via your A/V receiver.
