im not a movie person so i could live without all the movie channels.. i got dish on september 25.. the 3 months are almost over. do i call to cancel HBO and Cinemax? or will i just be unsubscribe automatically? i doubt that!

Because there are customers who actually do want the movies after the free promo period, they aren't going to cut it off automatically. You will have to call Dish and let them know to turn it off. Dish won't assume you want it off. Lots of people keep the movies.

Call Dish before the 90 days are up & cancel the movie chs. Get the rep's name & ID # just in case the billing gets messed up.

Rep's name and ID# are OK. but I always ask for reference number since that's the only way they can ever track your request in the computer.

I also plan on cancelling my free HBO after the three months.

You don't speak to a rep when you drop the premiums. It is all done via the IVR. Typically you are charged a $5 fee to downgrade programming. However, DISH gives you a 30 day grace period after your 90 day trial to downgrade and avoid this fee.

If you got Dish Sept 25 you are only about halfway through the promotion. December 25th would be three months.. you aren't going to hit two months until Nov 25th.. it is only the 13th of Nov.. just thought you should know your promotion is not "almost over."

Yeah when I first signed up for Dish last year I got 3 months HBO free. What I did is I cancelled right before the 3 months are up. Like the last poster said, you got Dish on September 25, so you should cancel it December 24th or earlier.

The thing is Dish bills you one month in advance so on your 3rd bill you're going to see the extra $15 dollar charge (or whatever HBO costs now). So I called the CSR about it and he said to just pay the bill but subtract the $15 from the total. But make sure to take it off before the 3 months are up.

When the 4th bill came to me everything was fine. HBO was off my account. I didn't get charged anything. Not even the $5 downgrade fee.
