First I don't mind paying for the services and the hardware but I want to get everything the legal way so as such I'm sure those on here will know this upfront. Now I've been so sick of both the Dish companies and pretty much all cable companies. Because I'm moving up north and will have a new house with more than enough land without a HOA to screw around with I'm looking at getting a BUD. Now comes my problem which is I have no idea who to get programming from and what specific channels I can get and for what price.

I would like to get a system that has all of the SD channels that most of the cable companies have even some of the channels they don't have but can get. I also want all premium channel offerings but my biggest focus is on HDTV programming. I also need to know my options for recording HDTV programs in a DVR like manner if that is able to be done. First I don't mind spending a decent amount of money but I will need a company (local dish dealer would be fine) to install and set everything up. I'm also assuming that I can get a system that would be able to move and tune the dish on its own at a channel change request. I'm looking for as much automation as I can get.

I know this is a lot to ask but I have no clue where to start and I'm not ashamed to admit this. I'm pretty much planning ahead as of this point in time.

And welcome...
1st I recommend you go to either www.callnps.com or www.skvision.com and check out the programing offered! You can go with a package or go Ala-carte!

We do not even talk about anything other than LEGAL PROGRAMING anyway!

Next step would be the Faq in this group...We can then proceed to help with your questions!

The Faq will give you a good starting point! If you are getting into BUDS, I recommend 4DTV from the get go! Packages and HDTV are available along with some free programing some of which is paid for wiith the little dish but free on 4dtv (especially the music and wild feeds).

For the Ultimate, slave an FTA receiver to the bud and have 4dtv and Free to Air satellite!

They 4dtv has the ability to have favorite channel lists (as does FTA but later)..so you can just go to the list, select your channel, and press a button, swinging the dish and the receiver will tune the channel for you or you can pick the channel from the guide and the same will happen for you...there is lots!!! For HDTV you will need an HDD200 decoder for the 4dtv as well!.
Regards
jeff

There maybe a dealer around your area listed here:

Big dish is the best for programming and quality, you will love the system, recording off the big dish is a bit tricky for HD but it can be done, there are 3 main providers for programming and each of them have a ton of resellers here are the main providers:
http://www.callnps.com/ (great honest place)
http://www.programming-center.net/ (Great and honest)
http://www.superstar.com/index.asp (scammers rip off liars owned by dish network)

There is a PVR modification that can be purchased for the 4dtv receivers or the hdd200 from Nextcomm Wireless (www.r5000hd.com). I just sent my 922 in for the mod, so that I can PVR HD and SD programming. I can't recommend for or against it yet, but will post about my experiences when I get it back from Nextcomm. From what I've read people are pretty happy with the mod on the HDD200 boxes. You will need an HTPC to playback the recorded files on your TV though.

I can second or third the recommendation for NPS. They've got much better prices than the pizza dishes. If you get the right CSR, they can match prices from other programming providers. Right now I'm getting service from Dish and NPS. Once I get my 922 back with the mod, assuming it works as advertised, I'm going to dump Dish and get all my programming on the BUD.

I've looked at these sites and my problem still is trying to find out what specific channels are available and what I need to get them. For example how would I go about getting all the premium channels (both east and west feeds of all the various feeds instead of just two Showtimes for example) using a Bud. If their a package that I can order that would include everything that a normal cable or satellite provider would offer is what I'm trying to find out. Is their a channel lineup list I can view online to aid me with.

NPS package #125 the digital Movie Lover's pack gives you all the premiums. That's what I've got. The pricing on their web site isn't up to date though. They haven't updated it since the Starz analog channels went away. I got it a few weeks ago for $109 and change. What you probably want to do is look at the links dfergie gave and pick the basic package(s) that look best to you and get that along with the Movie Lover's pack.

http://www.callnps.com/digital_feeds.htm
That is list of digital channels from http://www.callnps.com/default.htm
Any channels that are assigned next to X4 or GB are ku-band channels and require you to have a ku set up on your dish.
I personally have Get It All pack w/Digital Starz ( P 162). I also have the Absolute digital Package (S 890)
Any time you pick certain channels they will assign a package number if it is not pre assigned. You have to have a complete up and running system before you purchase. They will program your receiver from the satellite. There are some analog channels left up there, but will adventually all change to digital.

is another forum that I have learned alot from

Kustom Satellite Service

I don't know if this is around your area but some dealers are willing to travel, or he might be able to refer you to some one is around you. Bud installers are a dying breed. I'd would install for you but I live in Pa. I would recomend finding a used dish and uprade the feedhorn and lnbs. That would help keep your initial cost down. There are probably alot of dead dishes around you, since so many have jumped onto LSD (Little Silly Dish)bandwagon.

P.S. Great site you have here satguys

Yeah, I still have the Super**** Connection (expires in march) Have had them for years and was not aware that they had been bought by the Pizza company until last year!

They have continued to spread false rumors about the demise of C band and try everything in their book to get me to switch...until I mention compression! The reps do not know what that means! Will be switching to one of the other 2 in March...probably NPS! Heck, last year they even had me somewhat convenienced so I only bought a 6 month sub!! Bunch of Liars!
