With the economy taking a nose dive, my company has begun furloughing employees. Those of us that are left are now traveling to our other locations for extended periods. I was just informed that I have to head out to Needles, Ca for three and one a half months. I contacted Direct TV and asked if I could have my account temporarily transferred to that location and they said no.

My son tells me that all I have to do is disconnect my HD DVR and take it with me use my existing subscription. He said I will have to purchase a new dish and sight it in and not to connect the telephone line. In lieu of purchasing another subscription for my temporary travel I think that is the direction I will go.

I was hoping one of you guys could tell me what type of dish and LNB combination I need to purchase, I have found several on Ebay but don't know what I need to order.

I currently subscribe to high definition, HBO, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax and Playboy TV.

Thanks in advance.

You could edit the post to fix the CAPS LOCK problem. :)
But, your suggestion is a good one. However, if the OP feels capable of aiming the dish, he could do it himself.

You will need an AU9 Slimline KA/KU band dish. It comes with the mount and the LNBF assembly. Instructions are included on how to mount it and aim it. We have a special on Au9 dishes complete for $79.99 (regular $99.99)

AU9 Dish

Don't forget you will also need RG6 coaxial cable.

Can't thank you enough for your quick responses. Sundude90, I can't tell what type dish I presently have. It is mounted on the roof and the same son that suggested I use my existing HD DVR borrowed the ladder he gave me for fathers’ day last year and hasn’t returned it yet. He is always giving me some great gift and it seems to somehow make its way to his house. I can always find out what I am going to get for my birthday, xmas, etc… by asking his wife what she has not allowed him to buy lately, the ladder was one of those cases.

Sadoun, I went to your web site and I think the DIRECTV AU9 (aka AU9-S) Slimline Ku/Ka Dish is what I will order.

Thank all of you for taking your time and helping me out.
