If my 522 gets replaced...

If you are replacing your receiver due to it not working, you will get a 522. Dish will not upgrade your receiver based on it being defective. They have a surplus of remanufactured receivers for all models.

Unless, they have updated it. The 522 will not due Video On Demand. That was the only difference at the time the 625 came out.

"Unless, they have updated it." :)

When the 522 first came out it did not offer VOD.

I have had both my 522s for over a year (it may be 2, my mind gets fuzzy). I got it just after they started to allow existing customers to have 522s. I bought them on Ebay and 1 was swapped out under the repair plan fairly soon after I got it.

Both have operated fine since then. A few weeks ago I got the VOD option (which I do not want), so I know they have that on older 522s.

Of the 5-6 522's that I have sent back to Dish since 2004 they have all been replaced with junky 522's, not matter how much I screamed, cried, threw a tantrum, etc. Now my current 522 (only 7-8 months old) has the famous audio clicking/ popping status. Thanks Dish :down !
