If I cancel, can I watch what is recorded on DVR?

Sorry if this has been covered. If I cancel (because of cost, I like the service), will I be able to view what I have already recorded? I bought the DVR, but there is a monthly fee for it.
Thanks

will work unless you try to do a switch check & it finds no sats & no guide. Then it might lock access to DVR. This has happened to me during bad snow storm & trying to find signal.

Thanks, everyone.
It sounded reasonable that I should not lose what was recorded when (if) I cancel. There probably are some threads on how to transfer from the DVR hard drive to your computer? It's been a while since I followed this forum. Lots of good ideas here.
Thanks again.

My friend canceled dish about a year ago and could not access recordings on a 508 and a 522. Both said they were unsubscribed and blocked playback. 508 was owned , 522 was leased.

i had a 511 that i canceled a few years ago and i was still able to access the recordings from 2003.

Even if you cancel, if you leave the receiver connected to the dish (assuming the lnb was not returned) you can see FTA channels (like NASA, etc.) and play anything that was pre-recorded.
