If HR 20 has two Sat tuners, why can't it feed 2 tv's?

I just got off phone with a Direct TV rep, answering questions before I subscribe. As I understood it, the HR 20 DVR has 4 tuners--2 OTA and 2 Sat. However, the outputs are not comparable to Dish's 622 Dual Tuner?

I can watch my HD channel on TV 1 and then feed (using same receiver) from the TV 2 tuner, SD signal to the remainder of the tv's in the house.

However, as I understand it, with HR 20--the 2 tuners are only for the DVR capability, not to give me way to watch 2 different programs on 2 different tv's in the house--I would still need a 2nd tuner or DVR for that?

That's too bad--I did not want a 2nd receiver to take up more space and electricity.

No, DirecTV does not use dual tuner receivers.

The two tuners are so you can record one show while watching another.

There are four tuners on the HR20 dvrs. Two satellite, and two ota. There is only one output, however. You can record from any two tuners at a time, plus you can record vod at the same time.

you actually CAN feed another tv, however you would have to watch the same thing on both sets . All the outputs are active, so you could have two HD tv's hooked up at the same time. Probably not what you were looking for though.

I know what you meant, but you contradicted yourself. How else could you watch one show while recording another if it didn't have dual tuners. :) As was stated, the unit doesn't have two independent outputs.
