I occasionally like to listen to (or watch) a program in my shop or garage but it is a pain to move the receiver, 1. because the boot time searching for satellites. 2. re-connecting all the wires. Any suggestions or ideas to save adding more receivers? I was searching for an HD modulator (or other hardware) for over my old cable wiring or stream over a network to a computer?

Is there a better way than adding 2 more receivers?

Thanks!

What kind of TV do you have in the shop or garage? HD or SD?
What distance are we talking about?
You mentioned an HD modulator, but do you need HD?
What's you current receiver model?

I have H24-100 & H23-600 receivers. I have HDTVs about 50ft from my receivers.
I noticed some D* receivers like D12 has coaxial output. Is D12 an HD receiver?

No, the D12 is SD. I would run cables before I got another receiver if you arent going to be out there all the time. Set the remotes to RF and take it with you when you go.. You can get $50 component from Monoprice cheap, and they will work great.

Thanks Msmith!

I didn't know I could run 50ft cables.
Did you mean S-video?
Are S-video cables HD quality?

Easiest way if yoy do not have to have HD in those rooms is to get an RF modulator and run a piece of coax to the room.
You can then split it off and run a piece to the other room.

I would also get RF remotes which will allow you to change channels from those rooms.
If you do this, you will want a RF remote not only in the alternate rooms but also one in the room the receiver is in because once you set up RF it will cancel out the IR remote.

Thanks Iceberg for the link and the clarification component vs S-video.
The component cable solution will work perfect.

No, svideo is not HD. It will work, but you will only get SD with that.
Component is the red.blue.green cable and will give you the HD feed. Monoprice is great on prices for cables.
I got a few 100 foot ethernet cables from there for about what one 15 footer would cost at best buy.
