I finally got around to building a little platform and mounted up the P* dish..when I got the arm out this was on the end...a DUAL lnb? Did P* use two satellites? what's the spacing degree-wise and how do I aim this puppy?

If we knew the f/d of the dish, and the exact spacing between LNBs, I guess we could work out the degree spacing...
Unless someone knows what service it came from...

Does the mount have any skew adjustment?
Or, can you adjust the elevation of either LNB?

Looks like you just bagged a nice spare LNB and horn :)

The dish looks a little wider too, that a reg 84e?
What's molded into the back of the dish?

Search the net and it looks like primestar was located at GE-2 (85W) and K-2 (i believe 81W)

If I am right then you've got 4 deg of seperation. I alot of good combo's with that dish :)

85/89, 89/93, 93/97 97/101....

Primestar was always at T4 (now IA8) at 89 degrees. But that looks like maybe 4 degree separation

Ice,

Never had Primestar but here is where I got my info

http://web.archive.org/web/19970512021122/www.primestar.com/ezget/news/articles/corp/ge2trns.htm

In the article, it talks about moving its services to GE-2. It also mentioned transitioning from its temp home on K-2. I assumed that they had channels on both and therefore had lnbs for both sats (which would be 4 deg apart).

EDIT:

a older article about transition from K-1 to K-2

http://web.archive.org/web/19970512021149/www.primestar.com/ezget/news/articles/corp/k2.htm

did some checking and GE2 was at 85 so yeah, it is a 4 degree separation. I know the one we had at Rat Shack and the one I saw next door to my buddy's is auimed at IA8 (formerly T4) and has just one lNB

I've got three of them, the mounts all skew, but I noticed on the LNBs that they skew too. It says 84e on the back of the dishes...I picked up another one Sunday, it has a single LNB with the H/V outputs, has the weather cover and all, so I think I am gonna swap the single holder over to this dish. The one I got Sunday is the same size as the 84e, but it doesn't have 84e molded into it, just some number with the Channelmaster logo...

I think, being a beginner, trying to tweak the single LNB would be better for me. But I am going to keep that double holder, never know. Out of the five LNB's I have, one of them HAS to work....:)

Looks like the same type of dishes I saw go up around here about 4-5 years ago. It was called Charter Anywhere service. This was where the cable company offered satellite service where they couldnt offer their cable service. I think they got the programming for HITS or something like that.
