Perhaps you should look into getting a micro wind turbine as a backup or to assist your solar panels. I've heard good feedback from Southwest Windpower's Skystream 3.7 micro wind turbine.

Actually looking at the Air 40, the 3.7 would be good if we were on grid, but otherwise can cause more headaches - what do you do when the wind is not blowing? DC works better if you plan for it. AC was promoted to share or move (dare I say "transmit" on a sat guy site) power over distance. DC has more torque.
