I used to see channels that said if I wanted to receive it, I could get a free upgrade (to what, I don't know).

Now I'm reading about Dish 1000, 1000.2, 500+

I only pay for SD channels and SD HBO. I'm guessing that if I wanted HD, I'd need a new Dish?

A Dish 1000 can bring you locals. It can also bring you most HD content too. However, if you have older Mpeg2 recievers, you will need upgraded recievers to get the newer Mpeg4 content.

I already get locals and I have older mpeg-2 boxes. I'm not all that interested in HD right now so I guess I'll just stick with what I have. Thanks!

So do you need Dish 1000 for locals in sd?

there are a few markets that are on 129 but those were ones that were on a Superdish too.

Erie, PA
Sioux City, IA
Columbus, OH
Wausau, WI
Charleston, WV
Dayton, OH
Witchita Falls, TX
Clarksburg & Charlottesville WV

some cities HD lcoals are on there too

The + in 500+ & 1000+ is for 118.7 which has just International channels on them

Do all HD receivers need phone lines?

Any way to get equipment w/o installation ?
