I went to a house the other day to upgrade a guys directv system to hd and i told him my dish wouldnt be able to be put where his triple sat was. He didnt like that at all and was thinking about cancelling the HD altogether so i decided to try something. I put the Kaku3 lnb on the triple sat dish by cutting a notch in the dishes armature. went inside and 103(a) was failing but i went ahead and activated the reciever and nothing was searching. Of course i didnt leave it like that the man let me go ahead and put the kaku dish up. All this leads me to 3 questions.

1. What comes on 103(a)
2. I wonder if i should tilt the dish according to kaku or triple sat...???
3. If I got all of my channels on the tripple sat then why hasnt dtv done it already?

1. 103A is spot beams
2. I have done this twice with a 5 lnb and used the setings as such as a start off point.
3. From what I have read, 119 will still be used for some locals and Spanish stations. After, being able to get good signals from 99,101, and 103, the 119 goes out the window. We may see a smaller dish from D one day. But I don't think it will be as small as the phase 3.

I have a new 3lnb on order and plan on making a tailgate dish with it. I just have to get my hands on another phase 3 dish. No need to cut a slot out BTW. I just took a pair of vice grips and gently bent the arm out enough for the little lip to pass through.

This was not my original idea. Any credit goes to Matt9876

Escalation Department Phone or Email?

Quick and probably a stupid question.
