I need help install

hello I just installed a fta and in setup I get a good signal but my quality is and absolute zero and get no channels I have tryed moving the dish for hours and cant fix it what the heck is going on does anyone know

I have a sonicveiw premier 360 with a dual linear and a digipower moter I live in swift current sask Canada o and 31" inch dish

s9h 1b1 and yes I do have a switch i hooked up the two coaxial to the switch then out the motor then to the receiver

o god keep forgeting stuff lol so frusterated right now cant think I am useally very good with eletronics what sat should I be on I dont really care as long as its english and has the most channels lol it theres only a handful i dont get good signal at the spot i have my dish btw my lnb operates at 10750 MHz modol dream star fta-s2 standard dual linear

Setting up a Dish for the first time is not the easiest project. There are many things to learn, and Patients is usually the hardest.

Go to Dishpointer.com, and enter you exact address, select your motor type from the bottom of the Satellite list, and click GO.
That will give you the angles and direction for you setup
Start simple, only connect 1 tuner for now:
Receiver------>Motor------>LNB - now switches

1. Make sure the mounting Pole is Plumb, an error here and you go bald.
2. Motor "Latitude" scale set to Your Lat.: 51
3. Dish Elevation set to 23
4. With Motor at the Zero Mark, twist entire assembly to due south, 168 using a compass.
5. Bring TV, Receiver, Beer, and Bug Spray / Netting out to the Dish.
6. Power up receiver
7. Read instructions for Sat / Antenna setup
8. With a motorized Dish, ideally you want to setup to the Sat that is closest to your Long. For you that is ANIK F1 at 107.3, so look for that.
LNB Type: Standard or Single
LNB Freq: 10750
LNB Power: On
Motor: USALS , this is where you enter Your Long and Lat so the receiver knows where is at and can find the Sats. Long: 107.8 Lat:50.3
Transponder: look here for one that matches : satelliteguys.us/thelist/index.php?page=107%20Anik%20F1R
if you do not see one of those listed, read your instructions on how to manually add a Transponder.

The receivers Signal Meter indicates that Power is getting to the LNB, you are looking for Quality.
The Quality Meter in not a SAT Meter, it's a Transponder Meter, it only lights up if you aimed at a Sat AND the TP you have Selected is Live / Active / Hot.

Take your time.

Don't skip step number 5 from Lak's post. It is a must!! Being able to see the meter in real-time makes a huge difference.

ok thankyou I did have it at 56 degrees I will try to find someone to do it for me i dont care what it costs lol or just throw it out lol i am not really good at finiqy stuff i get frusterated with it

Take a deep breath shakes, and don't throw the stuff away, lol. A good way to learn patience, when you have none, like me, is to do something that requires it. It's fine to quit, walk away, do something else for a little while, then come back and keep at it. If it's the first time aiming a dish, I'd leave off the motor until you lock in on that first satellite, get a feel for it. Get the receiver and a tv out to the dish where you can see the signal strength screen. First, pick a satellite from The List, top of page here, and then get the coordinates for it for your location. Adjust the dish elevation to what's called for and start panning the dish slowly east/west. You might have to manually enter a transponder freq for that satellite into your box, if it has none listed, before you'll see any signal quality.

It wasn't easy for me when I set up my first FTA system. I spent several evenings trying to set that dish on the right path.
Spend much of your time RESEARCHING the FTA hobby. Go to the sites the guys mentioned and go thru SatelliteGuys with search feature it offers, and ask, ask, and ask...
If you can get one of those cheap satellite meter with meter and audio. It is a godsend to own one. You can find one for around $15. I use it religiously on most of my setups. It can be fun to watch that meter go up and down while aiming for a satellite. Then watch that meter dance from satellite to satellite!
Find out if there are any other FTAers in your area, and believe me you will come across one somewhere.
Have patience, back off when you get really frustrated, and never give up. We guys are here to help you!
