I just got DirecTV satellite. What should I expect?

The question I have is, should I ask them for discounts or promos I can take advantage of

your a new customer under a new two year contract no discounts for you other than new customer deals you were offered :p

a 1 TB HDD only being able to record 5 shows at once and stream one 4K show at once and not two 4k shows. a downgrade will extend your contract if they will let you do it i doubt they will..
With my C61K and Gemini I can watch or record 2 4K shows at a time on those two receivers from my HR54.

It will be interesting to see who sends the bill AT&T or Directv.
My billing and online account has been with AT&T for several years. I had no other business with AT&T except DIRECTV. This month, for the first time, AT&T is gone from my bill and account. can manage my account online at DIRECTV.com, without a whiff of AT&T. It's great.

from what i always have read was the HR-54 could only do one 4k stream
Some of those limitations were put in place when they thought 4K was going to use transponder bonding, using two tuners to receive one 4K signal. All 4K channels now can be tuned with one transponder. (two 4K channels per transponder).

They also used to say that a HR44 could not receive 4K. Today they are supplying Gemini clients to people with HR44s. I believe the HR44 can handle two Gemini clients and display 4K channels on both. I am not sure there is much difference between a HR44 and HR54, except for the wo extra unused tuners in a HR54. I have had both, and did not notice a great difference.
