I cancelled E today

Bob. Can we see a copy of your work order from when you choose your next provider?:)

I understand AT120 (with HD) isn't enough for everyone, but it's always been plenty for me (save for the occasional HBO, Cinemax or Showtime subscription). Add in the VIP722k with OTA tuner and I'm set. $34.99 is a pretty nice deal and I can't get anything approaching that price with the other providers.

And with regards to movies, well, that's what they invented Netflix for. :)

Recorded programs can still be watched after deactivation, assuming you own the box its recorded on. I dont believe deactivated receivers can access EHDs.....

All my receivers need to see a satellite signal to access the EHD...

Recorded programs can be played back without a signal...

you looking to confirm my new choice or confirm i cancelled E?

I dont believe a deactivated receiver can access the EHD, but havent tried. I tired of my EHD when doing something on it wiped my receivers recoded shows....... its here somewhere i honestly dont know.

actually i have 2 seperate e dish systems.

110, 119, and 61.5 with a 3 to 4 switch, left over from sky angel, and a completely seperate 110 and 119 quad.

i did this for redundancy after a holiday failure with house guests coming. I was outside replacing a flakey connector in a blizzard:(:(

so I installed a back up dish, ran seperate coax to my boxes. I have 2 vans, 2 washers, 2 dryers, and 2 of lots of critical things.

I repair stuff all day long and dont mind fixing things often kinda enjoy it unless i need it instantly........

redundancy gives me time, very helpful at certain times of year when i am very busy

That is exactly what I have. Only thing I miss is Top Chef on Bravo. Went to DishOnline and they have the new season in HD for free. I should check DishOnline more often :)

What confused me is someone who wanted a ton of VIP duo receivers when they had no HDTV. Especially when that person bought them for the same price you can get a cheap HDTV these days.

Plus, with all SDTVs, why not just have one receiver and use the agile distribution for the remainder? Bob, are you not a divorced guy living by yourself? Do you need that many tuners?

Just in case some might be interested, using my ViP211 and ViP722 hooked to an OTA antenna, I am getting some amazing stuff lately. But only from about 5 till 8 in the morning and it can only happen in the summer. I am recording stuff like Patty Duke and Mr. Ed from Philadelphia 125 miles away from me on the DVR. I also have external drives with lots of stuff on them.

If I switch providers, do I need to say goodbye to all of my recordings? If yes, that is a big problem for me. I even have concerts from RaveHD and movies from MonstersHD saved. I am thinking about switching but I don't want to loose that stuff. Not to mention the recordings I am getting lately via skip.

If there was a way to save what I have, I would switch to D* at this point too.

You can get a happage HD PVR Product overview

and transfer all your recordings. You will of course need a media player (xbox or PS3 can do it if you do not have one) to play them on your TV.

I am looking seriously at DIRECTV. BBCA HD is the only channel that is holding me back a bit, but it is listed as one of the ones DIRECTV is supposed to add soon. I just hope DIRECTV's soon is sooner than Dish's soon...

Better picture

The picture for an SDTV is much better from a VIP that from the SD channel of the same thing.

That is very true. Although, I have my HDMI distributed to multiple HDTV's, I also ran a backfeed to them, so that if a guest comes, I can swap the receiver to dual mode and let them watch individually. Watching an HD channel through the modulator looks way better than watching it's bit starved SD counterpart.

I have HDMI in the living room & send component vid/audio to the bed room. In the Living room have my 42" 1080p Panny Plasma in bed room have my old HD 1080i CRT 32" Panny.

Off topic but you guys must now this help me out please,
I know that Dish Network can't carry AMC HD
because of the Voom Lawsuit but,
why can't DirecTV carry AMC HD I never read that answer on here?

Fine, then why does a single guy need so many, when a modulated signal can be sent to multiple TVs. I can see if each needs to watch different program, but when not living with other people, you don't.

Bob , I'm right with you , I've had enough! I'm waiting for my return box for my 722.
And I'm Done.

I really am starting to hate my HR 23 though. The more and more I use it the more and more I find bothersome issues. I will greatly miss the VIP's.

But not Charlies Lies!

Hemi,

They all get you one way or another.
Even though Dish hits you with that crazy dvr fee, my direc tv
bill is almost on par with my dish bill.

Basically have the same package.

If it was not for the great sports packages and stellar HD picture
Id probably not have direc.

But since the new HR 24 came to my home dealing with direc has been a pleasure.
Plus I use the direc tv app for my iphone constantly. Its by far better then the dish app.

Direc still come up slightly short on the premiums. Plus I really like Epix and BBCHD..

This might sound crazy but the sound out of my vip922 blows away all other recievers. I have 922 pumped through my reciever-home theater and it sounds amazing.

Direc, uverse cant touch the sound of dish recievers..I have compared.

Dish stays in my house on that alone....

I got a great deal on the 722s i waited till they dropped in price with the release of the 922 was coming soon..... i sure didnt buy them when they were brand new and bug filled. and i own them.

I moved jen out on a tuesday at her request and a buddys girl friend moved in the next day. I needed another person around here and having lived alone before never want to do that again. so the 1 722 for me 1 722 for roomate both on the main tv in living room, which was how it was with jen, and the 625 for other tvs in house and in nice weather on deck, for awhile i had a tv in my shed its 16 by 20 but its a no fun building packed with business stuff right now......

i activated perodically my back up 625 when housegust were here, they tended to watch very different stuff..........

the two 722s gave each of us our own receiver locked in single mode

the extra 12 bucks for the 2 extra recivers was never a big issue, with them connected to the phone line.

but jack rate to 17 bucks each, then add the 6 buck dvr fee. since i had AEP tiull the fee rape.

on feb 1st my bill went up 30 bucks a month, less the lame loyalty discount that was running out. i talked to e twice about its ending, and no one offered to extend it. most likely it wouldnt of mattered, i wanted to cancel in feb but with 3 feet of snow on ground and tons of shop basement garage clean up i couldnt drop e till business slowed a bit..........

well thats all complete now, and i am ordering comcast monday.

i am cutting down nearly all of the e system, and reusing some runs for comcast. thats why i cancelled e early.....

once comcast is in i am going to have fun cancelling fios internet....

Incidently till just recently LED pictures looked way too dark to me. My roomatates boyfriend who worked for sears at the time your pictures look good the ones at the store so dark:( the LED LCD tvs appear to have fixed that, and i will happily replace my 32 inch tube tv which weighs so much i can barely move it..
