So I had some good years with Sky Angel. I really respected the company - that is until I called them today to cancel my sub.

Bear with me on this:

11am PST: I decide that I am going to cancel my subscription. I talk it over with my family, and we are all in agreement.

11:30 PST: I call 1800 SKY Angel. A man answers the phone and is very nice (at first)... I tell him that I am calling in to cancel my subscription; he says - my computer just froze, let me place you on hold for a moment.

(I am on hold for only 4 or 5 minutes) no big deal...

He then accesses my account and sees that everything is in order. He asked me why I was canceling.

This is where the conversation starts to get troublesome.

I told him that after they added fox news, I found my nephew watching half naked women on the TV (with a small amount of pixelization) and more recently Hallmark had some adult scenes on a movie. I also told him that it just wasn't right for my family anymore...

He then says: If you don't want to watch it - block it.
I say: Well, it's more than just blocking a few channels.

Here is goes, he then said: If you don't like it, just don't watch it.

Now I am trying to be respectful and keep my cool, but the way this guy said it made me SOOO mad. So I asked him to please cancel my account and he said “HAPPILY!”

So, after I was finished with him, I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. I wanted to tell him or her that the man I spoke with was a bit rude…I was on hold and transferred around for at least 35 minutes.

I finally get a supervisor and she asked what she could do for me. I told this supervisor that the CSR I spoke with was very impolite. She then says - I see that you canceled your subscription... why???
I told her everything I told the last guy - and she then says "well, didn't you know that you can block any channel you want?"
I said, of course I do, but just because I can block it doesn't mean that the channel with ALWAYS be blocked. Plus your company is different than it was several years ago…

She then (very rudely) says - "what is it that you want? Do you want me to remove Fox News and Hallmark just because YOU don't like it?" I said “Excuse me mam but what brought this on? I don’t deserve to be spoken to like a child. Please give me your name.

I asked her for her name and she hung up... Pretty nice for a company that prides itself on morals and values.... I am still SOOOO Angry.

So, I guess that it's my fault that I didn't get the names form either one of the horrible people I spoke with today...

To end I'd like to say goodbye to S.A, but all I am saying now is GOOD RIDENCE!

PS: I will NEVER recommend this service to anyone EVER again...
:(
Thanks for taking the time to read this you guys.

Please forward this post to Sky Angel

HERE

Do it twice...once under "programming" and once under "Customer support".

They do read your comments. Though you may be done with the company, they need to hear from you. Be sure to include specific date and times of the call so they can get the tapes if it was recorded.

Thanks for sharing your unfortunate experience.

See ya
Tony

thanks

I did what you told me - I doubt that it will change anything, but we shall see...
Thanks

The addition of the general market channels must be adding a little stress to the employees.

I'd say my sign-up experience was less than professional. I couldn't get a new accounts person on the phone menu and after being on hold a while I was sent to some guy apparently in tech support that did manage to get the information. It was better than waiting longer or not getting signed up. (I do appreciate that they finally allow signups via the Internet.) I accepted not having the best CSR on the planet because it seemed that they were at least dedicated enough to take the call and deal with it.

It is possible that you ended up getting one of those overflow CSRs or someone else who shouldn't have answered the phone. Sorry that your experience was bad. I suppose whilst we complain about the problem we should pray for these folks too. There is a lot of potential in SkyAngel -- It would be nice to see them get back on track.

G&T,

While I don't expect your complaint to change anything directly for you, these comments are taken very seriously by the staff that reads these. It will definitely help in an attitude adjustment at the very least.

See ya

If anyone is upset with Sky Angel, they should also blame all of us on the Viewer Advisory Board that voted for Fox News and Hallmark back in November 2004 (or there abouts). You should also blame yourself for not becoming a member of the board, it's free, easy and takes very little time to complete. You could have become an active participant in the programming decisions of Sky Angel.

Wonder if Skyangel outsources customer service? I have wondered that before when calling them and waiting for ever to speak to someone or being told by the "customer service rep" I cant do that, you need to call this other # and press this other option..

I would think someone working for a Christian company would have more courtsey than that person you spoke with... Even if your un happy about someone cancelling, just do what they want. Makes customer (or soon to be ex customer) happier!

It's not like this is a porn channel - anyways if you are that offended by it, block it. God forbid your precious children see reruns of Will and Grace. LOL

Hmmm, it's okay for G&T to tell someone to block out a channel but God forbid a company offering suggestions to block out a channel gets chastised. More to come. And of all things, having tolerance for a gay channel not being a PPV or a-la-carte.

Adults can watch whatever they please... But when it comes to children - that's a different story... I hoped Sky Angel would always be a service that I could leave on for my kids to watch - and leave the room without worrying... Adults=okay to watch anything. Kids=very impressionable
That's all...

Hence using the blocking feature. It sounds like from other posts that you MIGHT have DISH as well as Sky Angel, or at least locals, so, because of that you must already block channels for your family. Remember, most everyone is paying for channels on some service that they don't watch or use but don't cancel out all together. Until a-la-carte is available, you have to take the not-so-good with the good.

I will admit though that it's ashame you had to go throug the phone call that you did. I think sometimes companies would be better served to let customers cancel with maybe a simple question but not this high pressure to keep them, it only sours the customer even more.

Im happy with Fox News on SA* keeps me from having to sub to dish :) Now I get breaking news and so forth without having to pay for cable or put up a another dish. Ofcourse the ONLY real reason I have SA really is for TVU!

It's Official SA* $14.99/mo starting 9/1

i like the changes
