ok just installed another 500, that is pretty fast for response, ill have to check the 100's again, i know something still bothered me about them, mostly the dvr stuff i guess.

You could outfit it with an eSATA interface converter and reformat it for DIRECTV.i have an EHD with my 722 vip - that wouldn't work with the hr24 right?

How quick is "real quick"? Speed is relative.HR24 boots up real quick.

Then again, the only reason you would want to reboot an HR24 is to change network interfaces or swap out external drives.
