HR24 Lockup Issues

We have an installation with four HR24 units, all connected HDMI and controlled RS232 using I/O Gear USB adapter and null modem cable.

One unit is connected directly to a Crestron AMS-AIP video processor and seems to be a stable installation.

The other three are connected to a Crestron Digital Media system and are located together in a well ventilated rack. Every two or three days, these three systems lock up - requiring a red button reset. It doesn't seem to matter if they are on or in standby - if they are on we get a frozen screen image, if it is off it will not even respond to a front panel power press.

We have tried removing the HDMI connections and going with component video and coaxial audio - no change - still locks up.

Suggestions from other installers and Crestron tech support have included replacing the multiswitch and changing from RS232 control back to IR control (but this is a very unstable method of controlling these boxes).

Is anyone else experiencing anything like this?

I would say that receiver outputs would have nothing to do with the receivers locking up.

Is it a SWM system?
If so, what size splitter are you using?
If you just have just a 4 way splitter for the 4 lines, this could be causing the issue.
I have heard some say you don't need empty ports for a DVR, but I have also seen not having an empty port cause issues.
I would put an 8 way splitter on it.

Do you have a broad band connection?
If so, how is it connected? (DECA or Directly to one or multiple receivers).
