I would like to set up an HR24-500 DVR receiver with an old 18" dual output LNB at my cabin. Will I have any issues? Not concerned about lack of HD. Will I be able to record 1 channel only? I don't know a lot about this stuff but I can get a signal with the dish. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

If you connect both outputs to the HR24, you will be able to record two programs and watch one or the other or a pre-recorded program at the same time. All will be in standard def, as there is no HD signal coming from the 101 position. You will not need the b-band converters since you will not be receiving any b-band signals from the 101.

If the Hr24 is coming from an SWM system, you will need to reset it to a regular multiswitch. Go through sat setup but change the multiswitch setting to "multiswitch" before you try to reset the dish type to 18in round.

Thank you both for the replies. I got it setup but can only record 1 program at a time. During setup it says "no signal on tuner 2". I have two coax coming from the sat dish to back of receiver. Both cables have a signal. In setup I chose 18" round, multi switch and dual tuner. Any thoughts on what is wrong will be appreciated.

I swapped the cables, went through the setup each time with same results, "No signal available on tuner 2" , I attached a photo of the screen below.

When you check the signals on all the transponders on tuner 2, are they actually zero?

Are you sure you are pointed at tthe right satellite? Can you actually watch programming?

Can you post pictures of the signal levels on Tuner 1 and Tuner 2, please? Also, what happens if, while watching normal programming, you press the down arrow? Does this start the double play feature? Do you get an error message? If you press the record button while watching a program, then try to change channels, what happens? Message?

Well, at some point one of the fixes fixed the problem. I am now recording 2 programs at one time. I had not checked it after the last couple of changes because it still says "no signal on tuner 2". But it is working.
I really appreciate all the help. You guys are great. Thanks so much.
