Hi,
I had a shortcircuit at home. (Fixed.) but fried the HDMI port and Tuner 2. I have that receiver since Jan. 2008. Could I just deactivate it and send it back to DTV and then Get a new HD DVR? I'd have to pay $99 dlls.
I still have other receivers with the 2yr contract. Or is the contract per account or per receiver?
Thanks.

If the receiver is fried call up D* and they'll send you a replacement.
It does not extend the contract if its defective (which obviously it sounds like it is)

Just make sure that Directv agrees that it's defective. Like Iceberg said, replacing defective leased equipment doesn't change your commitment. Without the protection plan you will likely have to pay for shipping, though.

As long as it's like for like .....
If the one he has is just a HD recvr and he wants to upgrade it to a HD DVR, that WOULD start a new contract for that recvr.
If he has a HD DVR and it's replaced (like what it sounds like) you won't have addl commitment time.

correct Jimbo.

Hey you might get lucky....I had a R15 die on me and they sent me a replacement R22 :)

Can I hook a H10 to a SWM hookup?
