HR20 - Red Light on front of box

This is my first post, I have been reading this forum for a long time, and I have always been able to find any answers to questions I had. But this one boggled me..

I have had my HR20 about 4 months now, with no problems at all. I had the software update about a month ago. Everything has been running fine. Then just yesterday I was watching TV, not recording when a bright red light came on the front of the box. This is the one that is normally yellow to show it is recording. Well it was bright red. I immediately thought something was wrong with the box, but everything still worked. I checked my recordings, menus, etc. and the box worked fine. After about 5 minutes, the light went off. Any ideas?

At the time the RED light came on, the box was dialing into D*.
This usually takes place over night when it does call in, occasionally it happens during the day.

Thanks. I figured I would ask the question to be sure it wasn't a problem. When I saw the red light I immediately thought about the XBox 360 "red ring of death".

One more question, how can I get the Caller ID to work more consistently? It seems to have a mind of its own. After the last software update it worked well for a while, now when the phone rings its 50/50 on whether the number shows up or not.

I thought so too but since others reported and it went away sounds benign. I havent seen it yet on mine but they are in the basement. As for caller ID, its a real mystery. Your experience is no different then anyone else. Software releases come to fix the issue only to crop up and less reliable down the road. I think it will be a bug that haunts the unit forever. The good thing, its not critical for watching or recording shows thank goodness.

I have not had a CID problem in the last 2-3 updates, maybe they have it corrected now .... only to be screwed up with a later CE.

I have Vonage and I think its depending on the message coming through. Sometimes the CID wont show up on my phones too so I dont blame the HR20.
