Then under NEW, we get : 03 - Daily Fortune

So whats up with that ?

Are they having trouble with the widgets ?

No, in release 3 daily fortune was added. In release 10, it is being shut off / removed because it doesn't need to be in the next national release. This CE is planned to be the next national rollout.

I don't know if the fortune will be back (limited value, if any), but the widgets trial will be put back into the next cycle. The project is on hold for a few weeks.

Really really busy but I did manage to get tonights upgrade. The only thing I notice so far is faster navigation. I will report back other items if I get the chance. I just got back last week from family trip to Ohio to visit brother. Was a good break from job but kids kept my running around.

Neat startup screen after CE...

This upgrade was available in last weeks software download but along with this weeks announcement message, now you're able to turn it off in the menu but I don't know why anyone would want to. It's handy as heck to access the time of a guide record with a simple click of the info button. It seems like the guide has speed up with this 0x24d software. Infact everything seems to be running more smoothly. No issues at all.

The only thing I notice so far is faster navigation.

I noticed it was a little faster after the upgrade but there are still some times that the guide just pauses for a second. It seems like things are moving along then after about 5 guide page downs or ups it will just hang for a second. After that it moves along for another 5 before it does it again.

Just a thought about the new Update screen that subscribers will see after receiving this download if it rolls nationally:

Where it mentions faster searching, mention the number -> letter typing such as on a cell phone now working.

Many will use this feature, that will not realize it is there, they probably tried it in the past, saw it didn't work, and just never try again.

I'd actually like to see them provide links to the D* web site that shows all the updates that have been made to the software since the manuals were release. That way all new customers can see all the changes that have been made and better information on how to use them.

They also need to make the 30 second skip/slip an official feature selectable by a menu option IMHO.

Regarding 30slip/skip: I'm not sure we'll ever see that become a user selectable menu feature. It'll hopefully stay for us, but in general, I doubt it becomes a "feature".

DirecTV sells advertising, on many channels they get to implant commercials for a certain time period each hour. Their advertisers will accept slip more than skip, if you know what I mean.
