Hello,

I have an existing 18" Sony DSS dish mounted outside with R6 coaxial already running into the house. Is there a way to use the same coaxial cable to connect to an FTA satellite dish? In other words can I use a splitter outside and connect one end to the 18" DSS and the other to the FTA LNBF?

What receivers do you have inside the house?
Assuming you have two receivers (one FTA and one DSS ), are you planning to be using both receivers at the same time or one at a time?

Assuming you want to watch one or the other, you can do it as follows:

D FTA

| |
1 2
[2-Way DiSEqC Switch]
|
|
|
[FTA receiver]
|
| using loop-out
|
[DSS Receiver]

In your FTA receiver, setup all the FTA satellites on Port 2
Also, setup one channel on port 1 (Call it DSS)

Whenever you want to watch the DSS channels, all you have to do is
  1. Switch to channel DSS on your FTA receiver.
  2. DiSEqC switch will switch to Port 1.
  3. Turn FTA receiver OFF,
  4. then use your DSS receiver to view the DSS channels.
Good luck.
