How to hook up audio for A/V receiver

I have an H20 receiver with an optical audio out and an HDMI out. My tv (Sony KDL52V4100) has both an HDMI input/outputs and optical audio out. My audio receiver is an older unit and only has optical audio inputs. Do I run an optical audio out from the H20 receiver to the audio receivers optical input or, run the optical audio out from the tv to the audio receiver optical input? Does it matter? Thanks for the help

Connect the H20 directly to the TV via HDMI and directly to the AV receiver via optical.

The installer should have done this for you (or should have at least explained it).

If you were contemplating looping the HDMI through the TV, don't.
