yes a fast scan would be nice i like the CS5K don't know if there are some trade offs .I don't know how sensitive it is ... Ice would know about that better than i would.
yes usals is great but can fine tune with 1.2. Improves signal. I can't scan the arc right yet-- but i can fine tune with the best of them that one thing being slightly off helps improve lol that and not giving up attitude when i get some time off i will get my system up and running right . its back up to getting about 14 sats. then i will get my big dish back online -- more fun...
larry
every time i've set mine up its been a little different but i was moving the dish & motor brackets. If you set it back to 0 then everything should have been the same. i have one time set everything to usals and then all others have been a mix ,then ended up fine tuning every sat to 1.2
set it up as close to the way you had it and then get CM and can make a back up
is IA5 @ 93 if so mine didn't like it last time i set it up then went 1.2 then saved back as usals and worked.
also one time CS5K after loading about 7 sats reset my long & lat for all usals. had to reset all of them manually
I nudged 72w also. Now, can I go back out, and reset the motor (press thin rod for 2 sec on the motor) and would I have to rescan my satellites again? I wonder if I did not have it exactley on 0. It was dark, about a 20-25mph wind, about 25 degrees and my flashlight was dying, so I might not have had it at exactley 0. Not all sats need tweaked, and I guess i would only need to tweak it initially, correct? Thanks for the help! I should have left well enough alone tonight
yes once its been tweaked its done until you reset or realign it
its on arc so it shouldn't matter 100% it will only make some sat off just a bit in usals. If your not having to tweak all of them they you probably got it back to 0
well its fun to play with while your indoors but its too cold & dark to play with outside lol
Well, I just downloaded Channel Master here at work. Looks COOL! I went to the index, and saw the instructions. Looks pretty straight forward. Now to figure out what cable I need to go buy. Does anyone know what cable I need for the Fortec Lifetime Classic? THANKS!
Just curious, when I select the option "goto reference", does the motor go back to "0"? Just wondering, because after I reset everything, I entered my lat and lng, but I did not scan in my tss. I should not have to should I?
I finally caught on what the difference is between 1.2 and USALS. USALS goes to the coords of the satellite, and 1.2 you have to manually move the dish. Sorry, thinking out loud
Larry, when resetting your motor, always be sure to see that the arrow is at '0' by looking at it from directly in front (or above) the motor. If you look at it from the side, it may look like its at '0', but might be a degree or two off.
My dish gets in the way of looking at it from the front, naturally, so I use a mirror to see it from behind the motor
I've been known to use the blade of my pocket knife (very polished) as a mirror
I tried that, it was dark and windy and cold ...... sounds like a scarry book. Anyway, I went out after work yesterday in the light, and had sent the dish to reference. It is at 0. I must have needed to "fine tune" some of the satellties when I initally set it up last week, but didn't. Out of the 18 or so satellites I have scanned in, I have had to "nudge" by one button hit on the Fortec about 6-8 of them. I think last week I was in a hurry to scan in, so I only checked the strong tp's to see if I was hitting it good. I have now gone back to each one, found the lowest powered tp, and twekaed it to that. We's cooking with gas now!
