I am still trying to figure out how to get my SG2100 to move to 30w? I have tried USALS, and Diseqc. Is it out of my range? My True South Satellite is IA6 - 91w. I can go to 148 w and I can go to 61 w. Any tips? THANKS!

I am at 93ºw and I can just make it to 30ºw!

The SG2100 can motor 70º from your true south, you will need to use a KNOWN live transponder and use DiSEqC 1.2 to motor over until you can see signal quality!

Maybe you need to move the mech. limits of the motor, I did this on mine, be VERY careful if you do this as if you loosen them too much they may fall inside the motor, this is done at your own risk!

THANKS Pete! I think I will just try for it with my Primestar in a bucket! I don't want to hurt my motor! I LOVE that motor!!!!!!!!!!

You are due north of me for the most part... what I did to get my motor to get there was ask around on here and lyngsat for some live tps... then enter those manually in to your receiver... then go as far east as USALS will let you - for me that was 33 degrees west... I figured that out by manually entering 30 in usals- it was out of range, so I tried 31, 32, and finally, found that 33 worked... then usals to there and save that spot in 1.2 after switching from usals to 1.2. Then you've basically got 1.2 at 33, so you only have 3 degrees east to move...for me that was roughly 7 clicks east in 1.2. Save new position at 30 once you see the tps light up and you move east/west enough to get highest signal over there. Bingo, you are done. Save it in 1.2 as the new position... and now you got it. Do a blind scan. I'm guessing your receiver can do both usals and 1.2. My pansat was able to do it easily.

Essentially, I think USALS is the "safest" spot on the motor... but I think you can go something like 15 - 20 or so degrees past there without damaging the motor, so it shouldn't be too hard unless your usals only lets you go to 50 or so west as max on the east.

Well, I was able ot move the motor to 34.5. I went outside and was quite surprised how far east that is! It is almost pointing at the ground! Anyway, I am trying to figure out how to move it to 30w. Somehow the motor was taking 30w to IA6, and got happy when I was scanning but then recognized the channels :( My neighbors shed might be in the way for 30w. It is about 25 feet away, about 6'tall, then their house is taller, about 40-50' away, about 10' tall. So, I don't know if I can hit 30 or not. I am trying 43w now. BUt have no luck!

I've been trying the same thing. I look at the dish cranked way east and I have no idea where its actually pointing. Much more difficult to judge than a straight up and down due South.

I can get it to go to 34.5, but then I am kinda lost as to how to get it there. I hit the button to take it east, but I am having a problem entering a satellite/tp

well mine is a bit different with clicks east or west than MasterMesh ( his is 7 clicks = 3 degrees ) mine is 10 clicks = 2 degrees with a 1m prime* & CS5K

so probably in between those two

i just went to a known sat and clicked until the signal from the next sat was there ( had to change the tp) done it for most all of my sats so for my prime* it was accurate . MasterMesh is using a 76cm dish & Pansat 3500

I went outside, and it is almost pointing to the ground. I think with the neighbors house and shed, I dont have a view. I have been trying some sats in the 40's ad 50's with no luck. THe motor moves, but nothing on a scan

well its probably going to be hit and miss , kinda tinkering thing. if you go to your last good sat and start walking east .. after you find out how many clicks . you might can hit em walking down the line. It might take a little more time. buts whats time to tinkerers lol lol

I had to use a KNOWN live transponder (And DiSEqC 1.2) for the above satellites, and remember an offset dish seems to be pointing up to 24º lower than where its actually getting signal from, and it looks worse when used with a motor.

Check your PM for a good strong TP. on Par 3R @ 45ºw

Yes, the 7 vs 10 clicks may due with the size of the dish? I'm guessing it also may have to do with location of where you physicially are located since such a bird on the horizon may be further east/west than it really appears in number of clicks... so it may seem like 7 or 10 clicks here or there, but may actually be some other number depending on where you are and where the horizon is. Also, make darn sure you are tracking the arc at 100% because such a far away bird can be hard to find if your motor's not tracking the arc perfectly... basically what sort of % are you getting as you move around. It took me a lot of fiddling, almost a whole weekend one time, to get the arc in really well where the weaker tps on g10 come in up above 60 instead of the normal 30 that I had before that time... Once I got that going, and tweaked on a few other birds around where ONN is, and a few other places in the arc, things improved dramatically. Also, I'm not 100% sure where the footprint ends for 30w... kinda hard to tell on those big maps that are off of lyngsat that don't zoom in too far from a global view...http://www.hispasat.com/Detail.aspx?SectionsId=98. .. it does look like you are probably in the footprint.

yes a known tp , i'm sure you haven't messed anything up on the motor after i worked mine all week these are some tough motors lol

my CS5K moves everytime i change a few channels lol lol

Well, I did a factory reset on my receiver. AM scanning in IA 6 now - my tss. I think after I get it all back working, I will leave it alone :) THANKS PETE FOR YOUR HELP!

ok Larry here's where we learn to use CM before we tinker. so if we have to reset-- we can reload. but for me when motor acted up i powered down and disconnected coax. then reconnected coax powered up and it worked.
