Here is a walkthrough I did a while back for a Coolsat 4000 with SG2100 motor. Hope it helps:

Tracy-- I found and used your walkthrough now for about a week--- YOU DID A GREAT JOB.

I have several things going against me. First are the @#$%!! trees in my neighbor's yard. The prevent me from a clear a line of sight to G-10, one of the better satellites. But there must be more out there and I have a long term plan for the interferring trees.

Next-- I just could not get my Coolsat 4000 to recognize AMC5. Maybe I am not on it after all. Tonight I ordered a new LNB, Invacom QPH-031. It has both circular and linear polizarization. Hopefully, I will be able to get Dishes 61.5 satellite. I don't care about encryption, I just want it to calibrate the SG2100.

Once the motor is cal'd, I should be able to jump around looking at what is out there. Done the so called testing thing and refuse to spend another nickle chasing the evasive dream. As you mentioned in the walkthrough-- its "fool’s game anyway because you are constantly trying to stay “one step ahead”!"

More later but thank you for helping--

Best to use the Linear LNB to more accurately line up to the Clarke Belt. Circular will help you to get in the ballpark but tracking will have to be fine tuned with a Linear LNBF.

Good advice-- We are in the middle of a heat wave so I am not going up onto my roof until things cool a bit. Busy all next week so this might have to slide but I will post my results.

Thanks--

Was 107º in the shade here yesterday! So I KNOW how you feel!

I hope your neighbor doesn't get interested in FTA, and end up at this site :D . On the plus side, he might realize the "error of his ways" and do some trimming

Neighbor is a widow. I am not going to chop her trees--- remember , I am TREELOVER. I am simply going to NOURISH them!

She is a very fine lady. She and her family lived next door --their land borders ours--now for over 30 years. Some years ago when her husband passed away, Wifey and I went to his funeral. SHE AND HER DAUGHTERS DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO WE WERE. This is a very small town, about 15,000.

When our kids were small they ran though her yard one late afternoon. She called the cops. Yes, life is sweet.

BAck to FTA. Perseverance drove me on, down the stairs, up the ladder, up the roof, down the roof, down the ladder........

Finally put a TV in the yard and set the dish to AMC5. Eureka!!! I finally got FTA at least I got AMC5 and that is all I got. I will attempt to finalize this over the next two weeks or so if my commitments permit. The pole must be off level although I thought I was careful.

NOticed that these -- at least the one I got -- FTA satellites have a weaker signal than the big three. Latter I might consider a larger dish.

I can confirm that the signals are much weaker! A TV at the dish sure does help! Congrats on getting a signal! Once you have a signal, it seems to go fter once you know where you are at :)
